Chapter Two

Chapter Two { Megan}

"I'm going to miss you so much Honey.” said Karen, crying on my shoulder as she hugged me by the line for security checkup.

"Good luck in Miami." she added, sobbing on my shoulder, not caring that a couple nearby was staring at her. I hugged her back, telling her that I would call her when I arrived in Miami and that I would miss her too. She nodded and gave me one last hug, then put something in my hand closing my hand around it. I opened my closed hand and saw that there were two necklaces, each with half of a heart that was locked to the other. Right beside them was a key.

"For the future lucky boy." she said smiling, re-closing my fingers into my palm to cover her gift and patted my hand telling me one last time that she would miss me. I hugged her again and this time it was me that started crying. I cried on Karen's shoulder for what seemed like only a few seconds but actually was for 10 whole minutes.

"Goodbye Mom, I promise I'll work hard and I'll call you when I arrive at Miami." I said wiping away my tears while I gave the Airport employee my password and boarding pass. He looked at my passport and back at me; with one glance he put a check on my pass and stamped my passport.

"Good luck." he whispered to me smiling and gave me a wink, motioning me to move on.

"Next!" he said as I followed his previous orders and started putting my luggage, along with my other items onto the security checkup table. I then took off my high heels and walked behind a young middle aged girl in front of the security check, full body scanner.

"Next!" said the security guard that was standing behind the scanner. The girl stepped through the scanner to the other side.

"Clear." he said, a slightly bored tone in his voice. He looked up at me and smirked.

"Well, quite a pretty young lady you are." he said chuckling. "Anyone to have you as a girlfriend would be sure lucky. Now come on, next you go."

I turn towards the security guard and gave him a friendly smile. As I turned back to face the scanner again, I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.

"It's time for me to move on." I thought thinking about what new opportunities would await for me in Florida.

“Well missy, off you go!" he said, his tone of voice urging me to go to the other side of the scanner. I opened my eyes and hesitated for a moment.

"I'll make you proud mom.......goodbye"

And stepped through the scanner.

"Clear!"

Never to see my mom again.
