Mercury steps down until only her head can be seen above the bubbles. The jets blast water onto her back at a fast, and soothing, speed. Mercury sighs. Ahh, this is nice. She closes her eyes, rests her head, and softly drifts off into sleep.
Mercury opens her eyes and shivers. Silence is all around her. What is going on? What happened to the birds? Mercury repositions herself. Just as she's about to grab her towel, a loud boom is cast in the distance.
Mercury jumps. What was that? She hops out of her hot tub. Wrapping herself in her towel, she begins to dry herself. Somewhere far off, another boom explodes. Mercury looks up in time to see black smoke hovering over a mountain.
Not a mountain, she thinks, a volcano; Volcano Mortem. Mercury gasps. The feeling of fear rushes over her.
What if it was an eruption?
Mercury hurries into her house and turns on the TV. No signal. Her house shakes. Glasses, picture frames and random junk fall off the shelf, cabinets and tables.
There's a ringing in Mercury's ear. She rushes onto her porch. Red liquid covers the street. Neighbors and friends float in the lava.
"Uh oh"
Helicopters fly above Mercury. She waves her arms trying to get their attention. Nobody sees her.
BOOM! BOOM!
Another explosion rocks the earth. Mercury ducks back into her house just in time to see a humongous rock take out her SUV.
A terrifying scream cuts through the air.
Mercury steps back outside. A little 7 or 8 year old girl resides under a lava rock. The only thing visible is her head and crushed feet.
Mercury cries. She knows that little girl; it's her daughter, little Neon. But there's no way for mercury to get to her. Lava flows all around her and rocks fly everywhere.
Mercury leans over the railing, trying to get a closer look at her daughter. A loud swooshing sound comes from above. She looks up. A burning red block falls through the air aiming right at her.
Mercury opens her eyes and shivers...
