2nd October 1863
I was running through the forest. Running, running, trying to get away from the creature that was chasing me. I knew that it would catch me. Its speed was something that I had never seen before; even a horse would not be able to escape from its grasp. I had never thought that a stroll in the garden could have led to this.
I had only gone outside to get some fresh air and walked too far from the light when I saw Lord Stoker walk through the double doors. At first I thought he was just doing the same as I; getting some much needed air outside of the stuffy ballroom but when I saw him walking towards me, I knew deep down that this was not going to end well. I continued to walk through the gardens, hoping to lose him as I walked around to get to the doors. I was rounding the last corner of flower beds when his figure was in front of me, strange I never even heard him behind me.
"Are you running away from me, Miss Witcher?" He drawled. His voice was unlike anything I've ever heard. It was like a mix of velvet and silk, soft and smooth.
"Of course not, Lord Stoker. I was merely enjoying the fresh air of the gardens."
"Yes it is rather crowded in that ballroom don't you think?"
"Yes it is but I had better get back now. I do not want my father sending out a search party for me." I curtsied and made to leave but again his figure was in front of me blocking my way.
"I think you should have answered 'yes' when I asked if you were running away from me." He slid closer to me and the only thing that could pass between us was the air of the garden.
"Why?" It was not respectful to question a Lord like that but I had a feeling that what he was talking about was not respectful either.
"You should run from a man like me." As he had said the last word he bent his head down, as I assumed, to kiss me but before he had gotten too close I had raised my hand, only for it to come down again on his cheek. His head snapped up and what I saw pulled a gasp from me. His eyes were dark red and slightly glowing and two of his front teeth had grown longer.
I jumped back only to bump into a raised flower bed. In the second that it took for me to look at what it was that I had bumped into, Lord Stoker had gotten over the shock of me striking him and he was once again stalking towards me. Slowly, like a cat who was stalking their prey. I know now that I should have ran toward the house but even if I had tried to rush past him it would have done no good and if I had tried to run back the way I came he still would have caught me. I did the only thing that I thought I could do and that was run in the direction of the forest. Running in a ball gown was not an easy feat but when you are running from a man, no a creature that seemingly wanted to hunt you down and feast on you, somehow you managed to. I was running until my slippered foot caught on a tree root. Falling ungraciously to the ground and wincing when a sharp pain flew up my hip. He easily caught up to me; the speed which he could run was unlike anything I had ever seen. The creature, as it was no longer a man, stared at me with those glowing red eyes.
"My dear Miss Witcher, how unfortunate that you thought that you would be able to escape from me." Gone was the mix of velvet and silk from his voice being replaced with a slight hiss.
"What do you want from me?" I asked trying to sound collected but the hysterics that I felt made my words quiver.
"Why, you, Miss Witcher. And when I want something I always get it." At this he started circling around me. "As you can most certainly tell Miss Witcher, I am unlike any gentleman of the Realm."
"Please, j-just leave me alone!" Tears were now streaming down my face as I thought of what this man wanted to do to me.
"Hmm. I was just going to enjoy a meal tonight but seeing you, I think I'll have some fun."
"W-what d-do you me-mean?"
"You'll find out." With that he lunged for me, I screamed, which came out hoarse from crying, and found myself lying with Lord Stoker on top of me. I was numb for a few seconds before I registered the blinding pain in my neck that had me screaming again. The world started going black around me but before it could swallow me whole I heard his voice ring out. "Goodnight, little one. I'll come back when you have awoken."
