A few days passed before I saw Jace again. I was sitting, sprawled out on the floral couch, slowly braiding my grey - blue hair. Adventure time played on the circa 2000 TV to the right of me.

The foyer door opened with a squeal, "Jess?"

"I'm in the living room," I called.

I heard him putting his jacket on the rack before walking in. I lifted my legs so Jace could sit. He leaned back into the couch, eyes on the TV.

"This show is weird, you know that right?" he commented as green goo filled creatures walked down the street towards Simon and kid Marceline.

I pressed the pad of my foot against his face.

"You take that back." I pulled his sunglasses up with my big toe. One blue eye glared at me and I put them back down slowly.

"Someone has a hangover," I singsonged, pulling my foot off his face. "Too much beer?"

"Vodka and Rum," he moaned running a hand over his usually slicked back hair. I clapped slowly before turning the TV off. Picking myself off the couch, I shuffled into the kitchen, pulling on the sleeves of my sweater. The tap came on, filling the teapot with water, and hit the stove top with a clank. While the water boiled, I popped in two pieces of toast and pulled out two mugs.

The tea whistled loudly and I pulled it off, pouring two steaming cups of water. Two tea bags popped out of the box in the cabinet and plopped down into the water. Three tablespoons of sugar in mine and I left Jace's black. I grabbed the toast and placed them on the rims of the cups, carrying them out to the living room.

"Here, " I handed him his and sat beside him, curling my legs on his lap. He sighed, blowing on the top before taking a sip. The china left his lips and he bit into the dry toast

"Thanks, Jess"

I nodded, sipping my own tea.

"So..."

He looked at me behind his black frames.

"So?"

"So, about the other day," I started.

"What about it, " he warily replied.

"You kissed me."

He lifted his glasses, folded them them, and laid them on the table.

"I did."

"Why, " I pushed.

"Because I wanted to."

Jace brushed a long hair from my face, frowning slightly. His tattooed fingers trailed my jaw, his thumb skimming my bottom lip. My heart pounded in my chest, my breath catching.

"I kissed you, Jess, because I wanted to. I've wanted to for a long time."

He looked me in the eyes as my heart pounded harder.

"And, if you'll let me, I want to kiss you again." is voice shook slightly as he looked at me, eyes flitting between my eyes and lips. I nodded slowly, breath barely filling my lungs as he he pulled me toward him his eyes on my lips. At contact, I closed my eyes, an electric zing pulsing through my body.

His lips caressed mine in almost the same way as before, slow and steady. I kissed back, my mind exploding. Reaching out blindly, I wrapped my hand around his neck, my fingers stretching up into his soft, dark hair.

Jace's tongue ran slowly across my bottom lip, urging my lips wider. His tongue touched mine tentatively, his body tense. Our tongues ran slowly together, the taste of his tea in my mouth. Jace moaned softly, pulling away, leaving my lips parted. My eyes fluttered open.
