A woman around the age of 39 with straight brown hair to the small of her back and bright green eyes sighed while catching a glimpse of her daughter watching a movie. The sigh wasn’t one of happiness, more like a longing or reminiscent sigh. You see that lady? Well, that’s my mom. And the daughter? That would be yours truly. My mom, Mirabelle Williams, used to tell me these AWESOME stories when I was little (I’m 16 now). They were about this girl who was wished away to The Goblin King by her father. The girl fell in love with The Goblin King but the goblins sent her back to her home. The Goblin King fell in love with her too and was miserable when she disappeared. I think my mom got the whole ‘Goblin King’ idea from the movie I’m watching now called ‘Labyrinth’. Oh fudge, I never told you my name! Well, I am Emilia Williams, pronounced like e-mill-e-a. Oh! Shush, this is my favorite song!
“As such a sad love
Deep in your eyes, a kind of pale jewel
Open and closed within your eyes
I’ll place the sky within your eyes"
Is that what I think it is? My mother is singing along to this? That’s AMAZING! My mother has had the personality of a wall since before I was born! Oh, cheese doodles! I forgot to tell you what I look like! Well, I look nothing like my mother. I have straight, normally unmanageable blonde hair and odd eyes. Both my eyes are blue, but the left one‘s pupil is larger. My mom says I look just like my dad. I’ve never met my dad; mom says he lives far away. She’s never told me where exactly, though. People always tell me that my eyes are like those of The Goblin King’s.
“Ding Dong! Ding Dong!” A male voice screamed from the front door. A smile made its way across my face.
“Uncle Toby!” I yelled and sprinted to the door. I opened it and there stood my Uncle Toby in all his glory. Toby Williams is a man of 24 with blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. Oh and by the way, I have noticed that he shares the same name as baby Toby in Labyrinth. Have you noticed that I compare many things to the movie Labyrinth? Indeed, I enjoy that movie very much so. Anyways, Uncle Toby waltzed in the door after I practically tackled him with a hug. Hey, don’t judge! I haven’t seen him in, like, seven years! My mother came in to see what the ruckus was about. She instantly dropped the laundry basket that sat in her hands.
“T-Toby? It can’t be, Toby! I haven’t seen you since Emilia was nine!” My mother yelled and ran towards him. She attacked him with a huge hug.
“Oh Toby, my brother! How have you been? Have those dreams subsided?” She asked after getting off of him.
“What dreams?” I asked.
“Oh nothing, Emilia,” Uncle Toby answered briskly.
“Hmph, well the,.” I said walking back to my previous seat on the sofa. Uncle Toby came over and plopped down next to me.
“Hey, Emilia. Can I ask you a question?” He asked. I looked at him strangely.
“Uh, sure. Shoot,” I replied.
“Well, how into this movie are you?” He said jerking his head toward my flat screen.
“I am very into it, thank you very much,” I replied a bit sassily.
“Well, your mother and I wish to speak to you about an important matter,” Uncle Toby spoke as my mother came closer and sat opposite of us on the loveseat.
“Emilia, my dear. I have a lot to tell you. I think I should start with I changed my name right before you were born. My real name is Sarah Williams, the girl from the movie Labyrinth,” My mom paused for effect. My eyes widened. Could it be? This is AMAZING!
“Now on to the topic of your father. I believe you could have guessed who that is. I mean, you are almost an exact replica of him, save the fact that you’re a girl. Your father is Jareth, the Goblin King. This rightfully makes you the Goblin Princess and me the Goblin Queen,” My mother filled me in more. It looked like she was expecting me to freak out. Oh mother, you are wrong!
“This is…AWESOME!” I screeched.
My mum’s eyes widened. “You think this is… awesome?” She questioned with one eyebrow raised.
“Well, ya! This is so cool! I’m the Goblin Princess! And more importantly, my father is the coolest guy in the world!” I yelled getting up and doing a victory dance.
“Oh and by the way, we have to visit Jareth later today. We will be staying for a week. So, pack up and please change,” Those were the last words before my mom quickly walked into the kitchen. I shrugged and went to my room. I looked down at my froggy pajamas and sighed. I love my froggy pajamas.
I grabbed my suitcase and stuffed a bunch of clothes in my bag. Of course I grabbed my cell phone, laptop, iPod, and headphones. I can’t live without those.
“Oh, cheese nits! I have to change!” I said in realization. I put on my grey skinny jeans and as white tank top with a white jacket. I slipped my black boots over and went downstairs with my suitcase.
“I’m ready!” I shouted, plopping onto the couch. My mother and uncle came out of the kitchen with their own suitcases. My mom pulled out a crystal…cube? Whatever, well she dropped it on the floor and we disappeared.
POOF!
When I opened my eyes again, we were standing behind two large thrones and one a bit smaller in the middle. One of the larger thrones was occupied by a man with one leg sitting over the armrest.
“Jareth? It‘s me, Sarah,” My mother called out walking to the front. As I looked around, I noticed many little goblins running amuck. Aw, look at that one! He’s so cute!
