The sky was as dark as Ms. Golde's soul. It was a beautiful night, though, not too humid or too windy. I saw clusters of little kids running up and down the halls and kids my age in small packs up on the lido deck. I felt like a loner walking the ship by myself. The cute guys with their admirable flippy hair stared at me strangely as I walked by - alone. I walked the entire lido deck and decided to stop by the buffet for some loner ice cream. I quickly skip-ran to the ice-cream machine and wasn't even paying attention to where I was going. To my surprise, I ran right into one of the snobby, flippy-haired guys who was about to get himself some dessert.
"Watch where you're going...!" I couldn't quite make out the name that he called me, but I'm sure it wasn't any sort of compliment.
"Sorry. Geez," I murmured half to him and half to myself. I am such an idiot. What was I thinking just skipping around like nothing could get in the way?
I felt bad about myself as I sat at the table farthest away from everyone who was watching the scene. I saw the group that Amber had been sitting with - they were all laughing. Wait - not all of them. The two oldest were laughing away but they youngest had his head down, his hair slightly covering his pale blue eyes. As I looked over at their table, the boys stopped chuckling and the one kid looked up. He was cute.
I looked away, staring down at my poorly made dessert.
"Hey. You okay?" I heard a faint voice approach me. It was him.
