"Emily?" My mommy poked her head into my room. I was sitting down, playing with my favorite Barbie. I never let anyone touch it. It's mine. When I heard my mommy say my name, I instantly looked at her and smiled real big and ran to her open arms.

"Mommy!" I screamed in happiness. "I missed you so much mommy! Why do you always leave me with Granny?" I pouted.

She looked at me in guilt and pulled my chin up to her which made me smile. "You know daddy and I have to work. I don't want to leave you, baby, but we have to work to support you, and buy you more clothes and toys." She said tickling my sides. I laughed, falling on the soft carpeted floor, crying and laughing. She laughed and sat on the ground with me.

Mommy picked me up enough for me to get back on my feet. "Now, someone's in the backyard, wanting to play with you." She said while straightening my clothes out. "Go get your tennis shoes, Austin wants to play with you!" I smiled real big once again and hugged my mommy. I let go and ran to my closet with all my clothes and shoes are stored. I grabbed my favorite pair and sat on my bed.

Mommy had socks in her hand so she must of got them while I was getting my shoes. She slipped them on my feet and than put my shoes on next. I tied them, smiling proudly at what daddy taught me about a month ago.

Mommy kissed my cheek and hoisted me up, than put me on the ground. I ran down the stairs and out the back door. There stood my best friend and neighbor, Austin Mahone.

10 years old

Today was a horrible day. Austin made new friends and wouldn't even talk to me. When the school bus pulled up to our houses, I walked out with my head down. Austin and his new friends walked inside his house, while I walked next door to mine.

Usually, Austin walks me home and makes sure I'm home safe. I think Mama Michele makes him do it. I opened the door to my Granny sitting on the couch, knitting. "How was school?" She asked.

I said a small "fine" and ran to my room. I dropped my backpack on the floor beside my bed, jumped on my bed and cried into my pillow. I feel like I have lost my best friend. Maybe I did.

I got up, looked out my window, into Austin's room next door. I see him and his new friends, Alex, Robert, and Zach. Their all in our class at school. They seem to be having so much fun without me.

It seems like I was staring and crying for hours, until I heard a small knock. I looked at my door and mommy poked her head in smiling, than her smile dropped when she saw how upset I was.

"Baby girl, what's the matter?" She said while bringing her whole body into my room. I went to the bed and sat down, while mommy did the same, rubbing my back. She looked so hurt that her baby girl was so upset.

"It's Austin." I let out a quiet sob.

A look of concern came over her face, "what about Austin?" She asked. I let another sob go and than looked my mommy in the eyes.

"He doesn't want to be my friend anymore." I said, leaning into my mommy, crying my small sensitive eyes out. She kissed my head, hugging and rubbing my arm up and down.

"Sweetie, why would you think that?" She asked concern washed over her face again.

"He brought new friends home and didn't invite me." I said trying to straighten up a little bit.

"Aw sweetie," she started, "Austin is a boy. He's gonna have other friends, he needs boy time. You two, have had 10 years together, sweetie. Your friendship isn't gonna end over him having new friends. It's good for him to have some boys around him. He wouldn't expect you not to have any other friends." She said calmly.

"You mean, Austin is still my friend, even though he didn't invite me to play with him and his new friends today?" I asked, feeling more calm than I was.

"Exactly." She smiled that confronting smile that I love. "He'll come around and introduce you to his new friends." She smiled and kissed my head. "Now, it's Friday, go ahead and get your homework done so we can have a fun weekend." She said, rubbing her hands together.

I laughed and nodded. I got my school book bag and got all my homework out. I didn't have much so it wouldn't take very long. Once I was finished, I turned my favorite show on: The Suite Life Of Zack and Cody. I watched an episode and laughed my little head off.

The episode was over and Hannah Montana came on. I clapped in glee but than I heard the doorbell ring. I switched the tv off and made my way downstairs.

My daddy was at the door. "Emily?" He turned around and smiled at me, "you have company." I walked to the door.

I smiled when I saw Austin. He smiled back at me and started talking. "Emily, this is Alex, Zach and Robert, ya know from class?" I nodded my head.

I said a small "hi." and waved. They all waved back except Austin. He just stood there smiling like a little idiot.

"We were wondering if you want to come play over at my house." I nodded and looked at daddy for confirmation.

He looks at mommy who I didn't realize was at the door as well. She smiled looking at me, "did you finish your homework?" I nodded . "Fine, you can go but be home for supper."

"Mama Sophia?" Austin said.

"Yes Austin?" She smiled.

"Is it okay if Emily eats with us? My mom is ordering pizza." Yum. My favorite. My mommy looked at daddy, and they both nodded. I hugged daddy and than mommy.

"I told you he would come around." She whispered in my ear, than kissed my cheek. I smiled and grabbed my shoes, slipped them on. I ran outside with Austin and the boys. We all raced to Austin's front door. Something clicked with all of us. After this, we were all inseparable.
