The Forbidden Side

Erin and Adam walked to their Station after school the next day.  Erin felt more comfortable with him; she knew she could trust him.  He was one of her triplets, after all.  When they reached the building with the crown of King Z on it, they walked in without hesitation.  They both knew what they had to do today.

        "Hey, Bradley," Adam called, like he'd known his trainer their whole lives.  It was part of the plan.  Adam would become friends with Bradley so he would take them to the Forbidden Side. 

        "He's not here at the moment," Chloe replied stepping out from behind her chair.  "He went to the Forbidden Side."

        "What?"  Erin shouted.  "No.  He's supposed to take us with him to the Forbidden Side!"

        Chloe stepped back.  "Well in time, yes, but you two need more training."

        "Forget the training!"  Adam retorted.  "We have family out there!"  His sister elbowed him in the side.  "Ow,"

        But Chloe had already heard.  "Your families wandered out to the Forbidden Side?  Why?"

        "No they - " Adam started.  Erin cut him off with a look that said, Go with it.  "They thought we went out there as part of our training," Adam continued.  "They thought we went missing out there because we walked around Home a little and came back a little late.  They decided to go look for us, and now they're stuck on the Forbidden Side!" 

        Good one, Erin transmitted.

        Thanks.

        "Why didn't you report this?"  Chloe shouted.

        "We didn't think anyone would believe us," Erin explained.

        "Well come on," Chloe rushed.  "We have to find your families." 

        Yeah, we do.

        They ran outside and Chloe instructed them to take out their pens.  "Draw a line with them," she said.  They both thought it was odd, but Erin and Adam drew invisible lines with their pens.  The lines turned yellow and seemed to highlight the road. 

        "So that's what they do," Adam said.

        "That's the path to the Forbidden Side," Chloe explained.

        The three of them followed the trail.  Chloe stepped over the border to the Forbidden Side, and Erin and Adam tried to copy.  Erin placed her foot on the border and alarms went off.  The Home Patrol rocketed towards them on baby blue motorcycles.  "Freeze!"  One of the two Patrollers placed Erin on the back of his motorcycle.  The other did the same with Adam.  The sped back towards the center of Home.  Chloe watched it all unfold behind a tree on the Forbidden Side.
