He walks towards the girl sitting in the monkey bars swinging her feet back and forth with ear phones blaring music letting her be kept to her thoughts and not be disturbed. He pauses and thinks what is wrong as she usually is the cheery red head pretending to be a monkey and not looking at her feet looking so sad and lost. His lips spread as he breathed her name as it rushed with the wind, "Gracie".
He didn't know the girl could hear everything around her and she now looked at him with them bright green eyes of hers. He paused mid stride and breathed in gasping as he gazed into such sad and broken orbs. He always saw happiness and mischief dancing in those eyes of hers but now as he stared all he saw was a girl broken inside not the young women she was becoming but that young girl who used to cry so easy and be hart broken with big curls framing her.
Her hair was tied back with long bangs falling forward loosely with her long side fringe nicely parted to the side, her eyes were framed with black eyeliner that looked smeared at the side like she had been rubbing away tears. Her plump peach lips parted as she hoarsely greeted him, "Ray". With her voice the boy dashes towards her with his blond hair whipping around him as he ran to comfort her. She puts her hand out to stop him and whisper with her heart breaking inside, "Don't make this any harder Ray. Don't comfort me this time". He stops and looks at her so confused and sad, she looks away with her heart tearing and not brave enough to tell him her next sentence while looking into his eyes.
"I'm leaving Ray". She already knew Ray and knew he wasn't the type to cry so it confused her when she heard his voice break as he yells at her, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN"?! She looks up expecting anger but whimpers when she sees tears drip down his face as his eyes have gone bright red. It all happened so fast for him he didn't know what to do.
She sighs out of sadness and jumps off the monkey bars as she goes and wraps her arms around his waist and rest's her head against his chest as she let's tears slip from her own eyes as she goes on explaining to the broken hearted boy who holds her in his arms. "My mum got a job, it’s in London and her and my father have decided to leave Boston, I'm sorry".
Ray tightens his arms around her not wanting to let go of his Red haired angel, he can't let her go, he won't let her go. He whispered in her ear to stop her from leaving. "I'll ask my mum to let you stay with me". She chuckled and looked up at him with tears streaming her face. She placed her hand on his cheek giving a smiled as she swiped her thumb over his cheek.
Ray mimicked her as he put his hand on her face using his thumb to wipe away her tears. Gracie's eyes met Ray's deep brown eyes and she spoke, memorizing his smile before it disappears, "I'll miss you so much".
He lifted her over his shoulder and she giggled as he growled playfully, "Well, I might just not let you leave and kidnap you". She sighs happily and replies, "Run away with me princess". He scowled put she could not see as she was staring at his back and the ground. He sprinted as his hold tightened on her as he knew were to take her to discuss things, if she was leaving he would find it hard to let her go.
Ray realised something as he held this angel in his arms, he couldn't let his angel go, not now, not after everything they've been through. As he realised this Gracie broke out in tears again realising this will be one of the last times they can have this, this may be the last time he holds her and now that she saw him cry over her she just knew Ray couldn't let go and that she couldn't let go either.
Without realising they both came to an agreement in their heads to enjoy this moment they had and to always hope to see each other again. He took her to his house and took her in knowing his parents weren't there. He walked up the stairs with her just hugging his waist so she couldn’t fall.
Ray walked in his room and shut the door behind him and then gently lay Gracie on his bed, she smiled up at him and he smiled down at her as he sat beside her to talk to her.
Gracie sat up and leaned on his shoulder breathing in his scent of wood and cologne, it always made her smile. He started playing with her curls and spoke first to break the comfortable silence. “When do you leave”, she breathed in ready to answer. As she replied her eyes couldn’t help but stare at his dark blue shirt that was tight outlining his muscles in his arms, chest and stomach, “Tomorrow, I’m already packed”.
Ray went rigid stiff, afraid to ask the next question, “When did you find out”. She sat in front of him looking sad when she replied, “Yesterday night when you left me home, I had to pack last night and tell you today. It’s been breaking my heart”. He smiled and then caressed her check gently trying to see her smile.
“Well let’s have some fun before you go”, with that he started to tickle her o make her laugh.
The day went on and they were having so much fun to make up for not seeing each other, then Ray couldn’t help it. Gracie and him were in his room playing games and he just stared at her plump lips, pale skin and luscious curved. He couldn’t help but gently pull her chin towards him slowly he moved in and caressed her lips with his; from there they went on..........
Gracie woke up and stilled when she felt arms around her but relaxed when she turned to see Ray holding her, she looked towards the clock and got up to find her clothes and get dressed, seeing she had to leave in half an hour. She made sure Ray was asleep and kissed his lips as she could not bear to wake him and say good bye. She grabbed a pen and paper and left a note on his desk giving him something to forever have. She grabbed his jacket and left her bracelet so he could have it. With that she walked out the door and maybe forever out of his room.
Ray woke up and looked confused to see Gracie was gone he panicked and jumped out of the bed frantically looking and seeing her clothes were gone as well he then noticed her bracelet and ran towards in to the other side of the room and saw it with a note wrote in Gracie’s curvy writing. His eyes took in every word of the note and his heart was breaking.
Ray,
I know it’s hard to read this, it may be even harder to realise it’s the truth. But what we had last night was the best good bye anyone could ever say. I’ve known you for years and have been friends and every day I realised I was falling for you, I only realised how hard I fell when I broke down at not seeing you again. But every day I will think of you and how I have always loved you. I will think of the times we laughed, the times we’ve fought and the times we’ve cried. This isn’t the end but it feels like it, but now standing here writing this I let tears slip because I know with you it wasn’t just a friendship.
It was Love, actually. Yours Sincerely,
Gracie xoxo
