Just as I calm down I hear a loud noise..

"Liz! Did you knock something over?"

"No.."

I turn around and-

A man enters the gas station we were hiding at.

"Hello, sir! Um.. We just lost are parents and we don't know what's going on-"

"Hush it. I don't like kids, but the group insisted that I'd let y'all join." The man said in his strong southern accent.

"The grou-"

"Yes! The group. My name is Charlie. I'm kind of like the leader of the group. We're a survival group. Join us, kids. Or ya can just stay out here if y'all think ya can make it on your own."

"Okay! We'll go with you." I spoke up.

Lizzy looked at me in her 'what do you think your doing?!' face.

I looked back at Charlie.

"Where is your group?"

"They're in a hospital. One of the hospitals they cleared out for testing. There were hardly any of those..uh.. Whatever the hell they are."

"Is it safe there?"

"We got the whole place surrounded with traps so them brain dead fucks don't get by."

I looked at Lizzy and she looked at me and said, "let's go."

So we walked with this man Charlie to the hospital that was only two blocks away. There were a lot of meat suits walking around. It was honestly terrifying. It was heart breaking! Everywhere I look was someone I knew.. My best friend from middle school.. My first grade teacher.. The woman that used to check on my sister and me while my parents were out. She taught me courage and hope. She battled cancer for so long and won. Now.. she is a victim of this disease.

"Hey, Liv!! Behind you!!" I hear Liz yell

I turn around and there is an infected running at me. I move out of the way and it's about to bite me! I put my arm placed out underneath the chin. It's getting close to biting me! I try to move away, but I fall and it lands right on top of me! Its teeth are about to sink into my skin and - there's a loud sound. I didn't realize what was going on because I was squeezing my eyes so tightly.

"Ya owe me, kid! Why didn't you take care of it?" Charlie asks

"Because.. They're people.."

"They ain't people, Lib."

"Liv-"

"Huh?"

"My name is Liv-"

"Whatever, kid. They aren't people anymore. They are dead. Gone. Just a disease. When you kill them, you kill the disease."

'He's right.. You shouldn't feel bad about killing them.. You're putting them out of their misery.."

I can't help but to think of who that body belonged to..

"You've got to kill the disease like it's just that.. A disease.. Not in a body.. Just the disease" Charlie says

That'll never be me..
