I'm in love with my best friend

It was a normal day, both Daniel and I walking to school. It took a long time to get there because there's a forest to go through before you got to the other side of town. We always had a lot to talk and giggle about, it was never silent till now. We stopped talking, we herd something weird but no one ever walks this early in the morning apart from us it's like 5 am in a forest with no one in sight.
"Maybe your just over reacting, you must still be tired"
Dan stated.
~Well I definitely wasn't tired because I went to bed earlier than I usually do~
Then Dan could hear footsteps coming from behind us.
"W-who's there"
"Hah, now who is over reacting?"
I turned around looking around for any signs of someone, nope no one. I continued walking through the forest.
"Are you coming or what?"
"Yeah, just wait a few"
-4mins later-
After this long walk through the forest just a couple more blocks till we were at school. Then a little girl walked up to us, we hardly noticed her.
"She isn't happy with you"
Both Dan and I looked at each other in confusion.
(Dan and I) "Who isn't happy with us?"
"The lady behind you, she said Danny boy has to follow my instructions I gave him"
We both turned with hearts racing as fast as possible and an old lady wearing a hospital gown staring angrily at us.
Dans face looked shocked, and within no time the girl left. We got to school safely, no one was was in sight but we waited on the steps for a while in front of the doors.
~I wonder what made dan this way, what ever it is I gotta find out because he is making me worried~
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, don't worry about it"
"You sure?"
"Quite sure"
"If you were sure you wouldn't look so traumatised"
"Just leave me alone!"
Then Dan stormed off to who knows where.
After a couple moments later the door opened and dozens came into the corridor.
~Dan would've been here by now~
I walked to my locker grabbed my books and put my headphones in and turned up the volume.
{Bell rings}
**** sorry guys I didn't want to write about the stuff that occur during the school time so don't take to harshly but I'm skipping it****
Class was nearly over and dan still wasn't there,
"Mr. Can I have a hall pass please?"
"Sure you can"
I walked out of class and there by the doors to the boys toilets was Dan, he looked paler than usual
The bell rang and school is now finished so I ran to my locker and put my stuff away and walked the the doors to leave. Dan followed.
"Hey Dan?"
"What!"
"Woah, umm you know that girl before.
Dan cut me off before I could finish my sentence.
"Don't remind me, it's nothing so just shut up about it"
"Okay then"
We walked home in silence, then I realised there was something wrong but he wouldn't tell me. Why wouldn't he tell me, he knows he can trust me right?
-- couple minutes later of thoughts --
"Dan"
"Yeah?"
"Do you trust me?"
"Yes of course I do"
"Then why won't you tell me what going on"
"Because you don't need to worry about the things that are going on in my life"
"Yes I do! That's what friends are for, they are there to worry about everything"
"Yeah but this isn't worth the worry"
"Come on tell me"
"Fine, if you really want to know, the lady we saw was a family friend and she died"
"That's a shame, what were the instructions she gave you?"
"There were no instructions"
"You sure"
"Yes I'm sure"
I hugged Dan and apologised and at that moment we were outside my house so I said good bye.
