Back to the Starting Point

I don't even know why I'm like this, nor do I know why I'm here. The flies just keep pestering me around like this, ever since I came here! Oh, why can't they just shut up for a second?

"Hey, little Trappy!" their giggles were the only thing I heard, out of all the noises there. "Funky look this morning, eh?" They laughed so hard, I swear.

I then glanced down to the lower parts of my body. I realized that I wasn't wearing clothes.

Well, clothes aren't really needed for plants like me, anyways. Not that it mattered.

Insults and teases had been the only thing I heard all day. It's not my fault that I have an ugly big head, right?

Rustling noises were heard. I turned my head left, to the direction I heard the noises from.

"Psst," Charlotte, the pink-colored mimosa whispered, while rubbing her leaves together, "don't mind those flies! They come here everyday to tease everyone, so don't worry!"
Huh. As if I didn't know that.

I didn't actually listen to her, though. I shut my eyes close, and I was fast asleep.

I saw my mom with a very young version of me. "Hey, you see this?" the beautiful woman asked, her quite slender fingers touching and pointing onto a fading line under a quite short passage.

"Is that.. 'under-the-story'?" young me asked. She shook her head, but managed a small smile, "No, Veena! This is where we're living, at the understory*!" Veena.. haven't heard that in a while..

"You see, this point(or dot) down here," she made a huge black circle-shaped point (that was obviously too big to be called a point) on the line and continued, "is just like (younger) me and you right now."

She smiled while creating and joining a line with the dot (the dot previously) and pulling it upwards,  "We grow up, get older," a frown was forming on her lips, "and then we find happiness, a pleasurable one, actually."

She paused for a while, but spoke anyways, "Not long after those joyous moments, our life ends,  just like that."

She dragged the line back down to the huge dot. Things were getting foggy and blurry, but I could still see clearly, that small tears were formed on both of her eyes. "You be careful.. alright?"

Bright light shone onto my eyes. I tore them (my eyes) open to see, JUST WHAT is the source of that beaming light? ..So it was already morning, huh?

It felt just like yesterday before I was even here, together with all these different and many plants.

"Wakey-wakey, sleepyhead!" Charlotte exclaimed, being as cheerful as she could always be.

"..It's Veena." I muttered, frowning a bit at the nickname she had for me.

Charlotte's face brightened, "Veena? What a gorgeous name!"

My face flushed different shades of red and pink. Wait, what am I thinking? We're both girls! I could feel the warmth on my cheeks, I was blushing! In a good way, that is.

"Oh yea, Veena. Did you know that we are going to have a new 'plantcher' today?" the pink mimosa asked excitedly.

"I don't think I do.. What's a 'plantcher' anyways?" I asked, confused.

"The mix of 'plant' and 'teacher'! Everyone knows that, silly!" she laughed.

"Haha, funny."

I rolled my eyes at her, only to receive a warm smile. "Come on, lesson's starting."

-

"All right, students. I'm Ms. Macklemore,  a sunflower and your current teacher." she was a very petite and beautiful lady, she has really green leaves and gorgeous yellow petals. But then, she was a bit too.. uh.. serious in her job. "Let's get started."

But just right when we all started studying, annoying buzzing noises were heard. "Bzzz.. Bzzz.."

Those flies again. Ugh.

"What nerds! Studying? Ha! So very last century!"

Another one mocked, "And those hands(leaves)! Green! Disgusting! Shouldn't it be either black or pink? Ugh.." it made a body signal of 'eww, G-R-O-S-S!'

I've always hated those flies, even since I was still new here. I've had enough of them! If no one'll stop them other than me, who will?

I naturally opened my mouth, about to start an argument with them, only to find all those disgustingly slimy flies coming towards the direction of my mouth.

One of them sped up and went the fastest into my mouth and (I think) accidentally touched one of my few inside-mouth hair.

A snap was heard as I closed my mouth shut.

What is this? I've never eaten something this delicious before! Could this be the pleasure mom told me about?

The fly went further and further into my mouth, sucking some sort of liquid substance in my mouth and teacher suddenly spoke— "You see, class, the fly is trying to suck all those sweet-smelling substance in the venus flytrap called nectar. And nectar is placed inside the flytrap's mouth."

I focused back to the fly in my mouth and his feet touched my other hairs. I instinctively started chewing him. ..He's so yummy! And juicy inside, too! Crunchy!!! And there's more of his kind? What a feast!

I ate and munched all four of them and my stomach was filled, like a glass filled to it's brim. And instantly, at that point, I realized, "I'm a carnivore."

No wonder why I always hated eating vegetables!

My teacher and my class watched me with terror and was staring at me. Their faces were really pale, as if they have seen a ghost or something.

"What?"

I started feeling some burning, unenjoyable sensation from the tip of my stem. They were turning.. brown.

It started from my roots, becoming a bit weak, to my stem, then to my leaves, as in my mouth.

My vision turned hazy and I could barely see anything other than blurry images of everything surrounding me.

"Veena! Veena!" I heard Charlotte exclaim, and it was the last thing I heard.

Ah, so this is what mom meant. And I think I figured out why mom shed tears.

Bye, everyone! I'm going back to the starting point.

And that was it, before I started losing consciousness.
