PROLOGUE
"Not everything you see is what it appears to be."

Everything started one wintry day, when a normal day turned upside down.
Flaky Flakes, a simple girl who lived in the carefree streets of Happy Tree Town.
Her everyday routine of going to work at the town laboratory was disrupted when she happened to meet her friend, Petunia, along the way.
"Good morning, Flaky" She greeted as she walked alongside her.
"Good morning, it's quite chilly today ain't it?" Flaky replied with a small smile plastered on her face. At the same time repeatedly rubbing her hands together.
"It sure is." Petunia said before sighing. Her brown leather coat and blue navy scarf didn't really protect her shivering cold skin "Are you taking the shortcut today?"
Flaky smiles wryly "No, actually I have something to give to Mr. Soldier along the way. So I may not take the shortcut today."
A small blush painted across Petunia's cheeks. It seems that Petunia had a little crush on Flippy ever since the day she met him.
"M-May I come?" Petunia asked hesitantly, stuttering at her words.
"It's no problem at all, I'm sure he wouldn't mind. Do you have an appointment with him too?" Petunia just gave a small nod in return.
Flippy's house was only a few blocks away from the lab. They started shivering when the snow started to fall. The thick fog made it much harder for them to see.
"I think that's Mr. Soldier's house right there." Flaky said pointing at the large green house, decorated with rather colorful Christmas lights.
They start to knock on the door, but to no avail. Before they can leave, Petunia notices a baler moving behind the spoken house, despite the thick fog.
"Flaky look!" She said, pointing at the large baler behind the house.
"That must be Mr. Soldier" She confirmed. They went closer towards the baler and started to call out for the veteran.
"Flippy! Are you there?" Petunia asks as she stumbles across a weird looking hay bale "Uhh... What is this?"
Due to the thick fog, she was unable to see clearly the specified hay bale. But she was able to make out at least this much, it was dyed dark green and had a light pink bow tied onto it.
"Is that you, Petunia?" The familiar friendly voice brought her back to reality.
Flippy.
Petunia suddenly felt a pair of hands pat her shoulder. In which she was reflexively taken aback.
"Petunia, it's just me. Flippy. Flaky's currently inside the house right now, you should come in too." Flippy said as held Petunia's arm. His large hand was able to warm her cold shaking fingers, a small smile formed on her perfectly shaped lips.
"Y-Yeah..." She said as she held onto Flippy's arm in return. Face red like a tomato.
They went inside the house, and for some reason, it had no furniture whatsoever.
"Where are all your furniture Flippy? Have you been robbed?" Petunia jokingly asked out of your curiosity.
"Sadly, yes. But don't worry, I already took care of it." He gave her a small smile that didn't show any kind of danger. Not to her at least.
When they arrived in the living room, everything was back to it's place. The large plasma TV, the portraits, the vases, and even the tree-shaped cookies.
"Petunia, there you are!" Flaky enthusiastically started before giving Petunia a large bear hug.
Petunia gave out a small contented sigh as she hugged back. Petunia really cares about Flaky, she treats her as though she was her little sister.
"Oh, it seems that you're running late for work." Flippy said, checking his wristwatch.
"Oh, right. Sorry." Flaky apologized "May I borrow the book you suggested? I'll return it to you later, please Mr. Soldier?"
"No, it's no problem at all. I have appointments in the library later, so you can just come and return it there." Flippy replied giving her a small smile.
They bid their goodbyes to Flippy as they started walking towards the lab.
"Say, Flaky... Do you like... Flippy?" Petunia asks hesitantly.
"Hmm? Of course I like Flippy." Flaky was certainly a naïve girl. Oblivious to the danger standing in front of her.
"No, that's not what I meant..." Petunia tried to explain which resulting to Flaky cocking her head.
"Ah, no, it's nothing." Petunia felt happy for a moment before coming back to reality.
Upon arriving at the town lab, they instantly noticed something off. The head scientist, Lumpy, was missing.
"Where's Lumpy?" Petunia asked the purple-haired girl. Lammy on the other hand didn't have a clue.
"Speaking of which, why were you late Petunia? It's quite a rare sight." Petunia diverted her gaze towards the direction where the voice came from.
"Oh, it's just you Sniffles." She scoffed, but still smiles in the end "Something important came up."
"Is it connected to that soldier again?" Sniffles asked bluntly as he adjusted his large glasses "You should stay away from him. He's dangerous."
Petunia glared at Sniffles "What do you know? Flippy isn't the kind of person to hurt someone, much more ki-"
Petunia was interrupted by the loud sound of the door slamming open, which lead to the revelation of a tall teal-haired guy.
"Just so you know, Lumpy. You slamming the door open and magically appearing is not cool." Sniffles assured.
"Aww, come on Sniffles cheer up! --Plus that was pretty cool y'know-- It's not like you to be pessimistic." He said before nodding a couple of times.
"Did you and your girlfriend break up?" Lumpy asked jokingly.
Sniffles sighs, probably tired of all the drama "Whatever. I'm going to the library if anyone needs me. Nutty care to assist me?"
"If you give me some candy then maybe I can consider your offer."
