She stood rigid in the doorway.   Listening to the shouts of her parents. The dark room behind her mimicking her feelings. The curtains were drawn letting in no light, and her pictures ran in zig-zags on yarn. Lights hung from the wall.

Her oak-wood desk, bed, and dresser took up most of the room. Her mom had finally let her do what she wanted with the room. Painting over the pink with black and blue. She had wanted her room mysterious, now it didn't matter.

Her parents gave her everything she wanted, maybe that was the problem; noone has every told her no. Maybe it was the fact her parents never stopped fighting. What ever the reason she always had felt trapped. today wasn't any different.

That twelve year old girl was so lonely, so sad all the time. She felt tried and sick everyday like she was done with life. Out of place. But worse was the feeling she was lost, unwanted.

Carson Rudd stood on the steps of the old elementary school. The camera she held in her hands snapping away at different angles. The lighting was bad due to the cloudy weather, but she needed something to keep her away from home.

Her mom and dad had been going at it since five in the morning. Now her mom was probably locked in their room while her dad got drunk. It was a constant cycle. She was so used to walking miles around to the old places in town after school, to avoid them. The day was sad, gloomy reflecting her own feelings. She decided to go to the windmill even though she had already taken too many pictures with it. As she walked back to the front of the school something caught her eye. The sun was bouncing off the hood of a Cadillac. It was old, the tires missing, rust crepted up the front, and some doors were missing. But it was love at first sight. Carson placed her camera carefully on an overturned box, and began to push the car behind some bushes. After taking some before shots of the car she headed home, now with a bounce in her steps. She would be back, for that was her ticket out.
