"Sharon!" Tia exclaims. "You're here."

"Oh, wow," I say. "Look at you. You look just about ready to pop!"

"Look at you," Tia volleys back. "You look like you'll burst any minute now!"

We exchange hearty laughter before engaging in an embrace.

"So good to finally meet you," I say into her ear.

Tia pats my back. "You too, hun." She releases me and gently takes me by the wrist, leading me into her house. "Come on in, please. I've made some tea and have some yummy treats at the ready."

"Sounds good," I say, eyeing her laptop that sits charging on top of an accent table.

"This is so exciting," Tia says as we sit down on her sofa. "I never thought I'd invite someone I met on an online message board into my home, but then again I never thought I'd even sign up for a mommy-to-be message board period. Or make such a good friend there." She squeezes my hand affectionately. "Oh, shoot - I forgot the tea and pastries. Give me a minute." She gets up and heads to the kitchen.

I count to ten before standing up to reach under my shirt and peel off my pregnancy pad. After unplugging the laptop charger from the wall, I tiptoe into the kitchen, where Tia stands at the counter with her back to me, placing our refreshments on a tray. I raise the charger cord and wrap it around her neck as hard as I can. She lets out inhuman choking sounds, trying to claw at her throat, but I keep pulling tighter and tighter. I pull her all the way into the living room and manage to get her lying on her back on the couch.

It's over in just a couple of minutes.

Then I prostrate her body on the floor before reaching for my purse, doing a blind rummage. Once I locate the serrated knife, I kneel beside Tia's body and get to work.

At the toll booth, the officer collects my change and glances into the backseat. "Oh my, what a beautiful baby!"

I smile back. "Thanks. I just had him yesterday."
