The next day, Yagami is sitting in the classroom while the teacher rambles on about something Yagami already knows, considering her smarts. She stares outside, bored. She sees a book fall out of nowhere, it lands on the ground closed.
Later, Yagami goes to investigate. It might mean something to someone. She just hoped no one else found it, she was curious.
She heads to the spot where it dropped. She finds it laying in the same spot it fell at earlier. She grabs the black book and carefully looks at it.
"Death Note?" She mumbles to herself, "As in a notebook of death?"
She opens it up and reads it.
How to Use it
The human whose name is written in this notebook shall die.
She stops reading it, and puts it down with a chuckle. Like anything like that would exist. It's pretty lame, to mention twisted. It's not that different from one of those chain letters you get. Come on.
She stops walking, and glances back at it.
Later, she is still walking home.
There must be something wrong with me to even consider it.Yagami is now at home, reading the notebook, while watching the news.
This note will not take effect unless the writer has the persons face in their mind when writing his/her name, therefore, people sharing the same name will note be affected. If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the persons name, it will happen. If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack. After writing the cause of death details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes, 40 seconds.
"So you can kill a person easily or painfully. This is pretty detailed for a prank." Yagami walks over to her dead and sighs. She still has her school uniform on. Could this be real?
"So I write a name and that person dies. Like anyone would believe that." She stares at the notebook.
Swiftly, in one second, she grabs a pen and opens the notebook to the first page.
"Wait, on the off chance that someone dies, would that make be a murderer? No, it's impossible anyway." She thinks of someone's name to write down.
On the news, it talks about something.
"This person has taken eight people hostage, at a day-care center. Her captives are both children and teachers. The police have now identified the suspect as 42 year old Kurou Otoharada, unemployed..." The woman on the news continues talking, while it shows a picture of the criminal and their name.
Yagami writes down the name. She looks over at her clock.
A heart attack in 40 seconds, we'll see. She doesn't believe it will work at all.
The news continues rambling on about it.
In about 40 seconds, nothing happens. Yagami reaches the remote to turn off the news.
"Wait, something's happening! There is movement at the front entrance. The hostages are coming out! And they are all unharmed! The special forces are taking action. They're moving in. We don't know if the suspects been arrested been arrested. The suspect has been found dead inside!"
Yagami's eyes widen. It worked?
"The special forces have not shit the suspect. The hostages say he collapsed. A heart attack."
No way, this is just a coincidence.
"Light, it's already 6:30 don't you have school tonight?" Her father calls from below.
"Yeah, I'll be right down!" Yagami puts everything in her bag, still confused.
If this really works, I have to test it one more time. It needs to be another criminal. If he's too well known, that will be a problem. If he dies, there's a good possibility his death will be covered up.
Yagami continues to think all through class.
