Chapter Nineteen: Forgiveness

I sat in my bed, crying my eyes out. It was the day after Christmas, and I had just lost the baby yesterday. I never understood why it had to be me. I lost my aunt and uncle, my parents fell apart, I lost the love of my life, and I was scared to love Ashley. What did I do in a past life for God to look down on me and go; ‘I’m going to take everything away. But you’ll never know why until you discover why’.

I’m officially 22, but we didn’t celebrate my birthday this year. I was waiting for the New Year to come so I could make my annual trip back home. I’ve seen Jeremy once over the past couple months, he finally asked Sammi to marry him, and so they were making wedding plans. I was going out jogging today, and end my tears.

I just recently started talking to the girls too. I found out Aerin found a really nice guy and they got married about a year ago. Xandria found a guy too, his name is Drake Christopher I believe, and they’re engaged. Evelyn met this singer too. It was so much information and shouting, I wasn’t sure if I heard correctly, but I think she told me she was with Mike Fuentes. Ember is still apparently single, along with Midnight. I convinced them to come out and visit me since it’s been about three years since I’ve seen them.

They got the first plane ticket out. They said they’d be flying out in a month or two since Drake and Xandria are trying to make wedding plans. But that gave me time to lose the baby weight, so I was going to jog every morning. Not to mention that I found a new band based around people I’ve known for a while. This guy I started dating named Draven plays bass, and he agreed to be in the band. My friend Haven said she’d play back-up guitar for me, and my friend Miles said he play drums. They refused to find a singer and decided that I would sing.

Our first gig wasn’t for another three months or so, so we practiced the songs I finished. They loved the melodies and style of the songs. So did the producer that helped out Of Mice & Men, so he gave us a deal. We were an opening act for this band, he wouldn’t tell us who though. That was of no importance to me though, as long as we played at some venues to get our name out there.

And having to tell Ashley about the baby? Well, I won’t have to worry, because he as well as everyone else, who doesn’t know, won’t ever have to. It would be one of those dirty little secrets that only a few would know about. That was the way it had to be.

“So Lexi is like ‘why don’t you lighten up’? And I just stare at her unbelievably and I’m like ‘bitch why don’t you go get mono and die?’. I cannot believe she said that to me. Especially after all we went through as friends” Ember huffed in frustration.

“Some friends were just never meant to be I guess” Evelyn shrugged.

“Neither is some love” Aerin retorted. “But we can always find our way back”

“Speaking of love” Midnight smiled “I heard you have a boyfriend?”

“Yea” I chuckled “His name is Draven. He’s the bassist in the band”

“Ooh, do tell” Xandria raised her dark eyebrows and crossed her leg over the other, wanting more information.

“What is there to tell?” I scoffed.

“What isn’t there to tell?” Evelyn laughed.

“What about you guys? I want to hear more about you since I haven’t been around at all” I replied, hoping to get the subject off of me.

“You know” Aerin smiled. “It’s been almost a year since Vince and I were married. And we fight and forgive like a married couple” she shrugged.
