"No. Oh lord no!" I exclaimed as my friend held up the skimpiest dress I had ever laid my eyes on. It had cheetah print all over it and was horribly short.
She wiggled her eyebrows playful and started giggling at how horrified I looked, "Relax, I was just kidding."
As she went back to looking for another dress I could try on, I started to really think about what I had gotten myself into by saying yes to this whole ordeal. We were going to a party, and not just any party, one for the most wealthy man alive. That's right, somehow my crazy friend knew someone, who knew someone else, that could get us into this party. Why had I said yes? I really don't know at this point.
What I did know was there was going to be a lot of good looking guys there and I needed to dress to impress, which was the hardest task you could ever give me. Sweatpants and a tank top? Yeah, no problem, skin tight dress with high heels? Problem.
Just then my friend walked back up to me holding a black dress with no sleeves and a flowy bottom. I will admit, it caught my attention. I turned my head up to her, and she gestured for me to try it on.
Sighing, I got up from my comfortable chair, grabbed the dress from her hand and walked over to the dressing room.
This better be the dress. I have tried on 8 different ones and we have been here for over an hour, I just want to get this over with and go.
As I finished putting it on, I looked myself over in the mirror, and it was a beautiful dress. Even though it didn't have any sleeves, it made up for it at the bottom. It came down to my knees and was very loose will still being a little slim at the top, hugging all the right places. It was made out of a flowy, see through material, but it was very comfortable, and I wouldn't become too hot while wearing it, which was a plus.
I stepped out of the dressing room to let Kris have a look. As I came out and she laid her eyes on me, a gasp slipped from her lips, following saying how beautiful I looked.
"Thank you." I said.
"Do you think this is it?"
I took a deep breath, "Yeah, I think this is it."
She sighed in relief, "Thank God, I thought I would have to go pick out more."
"Thanks for the love Kris."
She laughed, "Sorry, I'm just really exhausted, but seriously you look gorgeous. I really think you should get this."
I looked down at myself, playing around with how much it twirled, and in the end I really did love the dress. "Okay, I'm going to get this one."
"Yay!!" Kris squealed.
I giggled and my way back into the dressing room to remove the dress. Once I was done, we made it to the register, and we were on our way to get shoes before we went home.
The sidewalks were pretty busy as normal, I mean it was the big apple. Lots of people rode their bikes, used taxis and whatever else they had to do to get to where they were going. Winter was settling in though, and it was definitely a cold one outside today.
"Hey Kris, what shoes should I wear with my dress?"
"I was thinking some black pumps, with a gold chain, or something like that on them."
"Okay great, well where do you wanna g..."
Just then, someone bumped into me with so much force, I went tumbling backwards, hitting my head on the pavement. I layed there for a second, just sprawled out, dazed and confused, and just as I was getting my vision to come back to normal, a guy, who probably wasn't much older than I was, hovered over me, concern filled his eyes.
"Are you alright?" He asked.
"I think so," I replied.
"Here, let me help you up."
He pulled me so fast, it was like I was the lightest thing on Earth. He looked me up and down, searching for injuries.
"I'm so sorry," He apologized, "I wasn't looking where I was going, and was in such a rush. I'm really sorry."
He was so handsome, green eyes, strong chin bone, chiseled to perfection. Even his hair was done perfectly, and wearing a suit and tie. Damn. He was a very attractive guy.
As I let my thoughts wander, he snapped his fingers right in front of my face, bring me back to reality. I shook my head,
"Huh?" I asked.
He chuckled. Ahh, even his smile was amazing. "Are you okay?"
"Oh. Yeah, I'm wonderful."
He laughed again. He's gotta stop that.
"Well, once again I'm so sorry. I'd stay and chat, but I have to get going, I'll see you around, and have a nice day."
"Thank you, you too."
As the handsome stranger walked away, I let out a huge sigh, he was wonderfully stunning. Kris came and stood by me.
"Il est tres beau." (He is very handsome)
"Oui."
