Monday March 2nd
Louis sat at his computer, tapping his fingers on the desk. Since 10 that morning he had been corresponding with possible employers. Although he loved his job as a coach and it kept him busy, Louis felt he should find another job, a more intellectual one where he could challenge himself. However, so far he hadn't found anything that felt right. He had already spoken to the manager of a firm needing assistants, but without any background experience Louis was told it wasn't worth applying for.
It was now nearly 3:00 and Louis was losing hope. He didn't want to work as a waiter, or a plumber, or a security guard. None of them were appealing at all. He grabbed his coffee mug with the picture of a cute black pug on it and took a sip of coffee. It was still very hot and Louis breathed out quickly to relieve his mouth as he put his mug back down. He closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair. He opened his eyes and looked up at the ceiling, focusing on the small grooves in the paint.
*Ding ding* Louis phone went off.
Louis sat up, looking over his desk for his phone. Not seeing it, he felt the pockets of his grey sweatpants and dug out his phone from the right pocket. Unlocking the phone he sees a text from his friend David whom he went to college with and now lives a few miles away from.
*Hey L, free for sum drinks 2nite?*
Louis starts to type a reply saying he is free and keen for some drinks to forget about the stress of finding a job when he remembers his plans with Harry. Louis deletes the text he had started and types out a new one.
*sorry mate, busy tonight. another time?*
Louis puts his phone back in his pocket and stands up, taking his mug with him as he wanders into the lounge , sitting at the couch.
What should I wear tonight? Louis thinks to himself.
Seeing as he is always in sports wear when he sees Harry, he should probably go in something nice. Harry obviously knew how to dress well; that one time in town when Louis saw him he looked incredibly fashionable.
Louis finishes his coffee and takes the empty mug into the kitchen just as his phone goes off again.
*No worries, another time. I'll find a good hook up ;)*
Rolling his eyes Louis shoves his phone back in his pocket. He grabs an apple from the small fruit bowl on the kitchen counter and rolls it in his hands, wandering back into his lounge room. He walks over to the window overlooking the street. It was not a bad day, slightly overcast but not raining. Louis chews on his apple, feeling the crunch and licking the juice off his top lip. Watching a woman run by, he decides to go for a run too; there's no better way to clear your head than a good run. He walks over to the front door, grabbing his keys and shoes before heading out.
...
Louis walks down the street of town, his shoulders hunched and his hands deep in the pockets of his dark jeans. The rain had just started to fall, sprinkling lightly, leaving small marks on the path. Louis' dark jacket was dotted with rain drops and he walks faster to avoid getting wetter. It was just after 8, and Louis was annoyed with himself for being late; he had spent longer than normal trying to find the best thing to wear. He wanted to make the best impression on Harry; even though it wasn't the first.
The small town of Woodlands was quiet, the shops dark and the streets empty. Louis looked up ahead as he came to the pub; the only place open tonight. He stepped up to the door and ran his hand through his hair, trying to get rid of the raindrops that had settled on his head. Looking through the door he could see it was quite busy, despite it being a Monday night.
