Your P.O.V
"So Pony." I said, setting his shopping on the table. "What's up?" I looked at him and he sighed, slumping onto the couch. "My life is just...falling to pieces, Sophia. I don't kno what to do anymore." He looked up at me, sad.
"Hey now buddy..." I sat next to him and rubbed his shoulder. "What's been happening?" He sighed again and started talking about how Johnny is in the hospital, slowly recovering, how Dallas had been shot and nearly died, how him and Johnny had killed a soc and that he wanted to drop out of school because his grades were falling. I listened throughout the whole thing. Nodding at the right times, sighing at the right times and whispering consolance at the right times. We talked about random things for a while until I saw the calendar on their wall. "Oh my god!" I shrieked, jumping up.
"What?" He asked.
"It's October the 31st tomorrow!!!" I shrieked. Jumping up and down. Great way to look stupid in front of your crush. "It is!" He flew from the couch and started jumping around with me. "I don't know if my parents will let me trick or treat.." I murmured, suddenly feeling down. "If they say no, tell me tomorrow at school and then I'll help you sneak out." He offered.
"That's a good idea." I admitted, "what happens if they say yes?" I continued.
"You say you don't want to anymore and then we sneak out." He said, laughing.
"Sneaking out is more fun." I agreed and we fell into a pit of laughter. "What are you going to be?" I asked, suppressing a giggle.
"Hmmm I don't know!" He thought deeply for a while until his eyes lit up. "I know!" He exclaimed. "We should come as zombies!" We looked at each other and cracked up again. "You know." I wheezed, holding my stomach. "That's actually a good idea." I noted. "Sure it is. It's mine." He said proudly. I giggled again. "Do you have face paints and an outfit?" He asked me, I shook my head. "Me neither. How about we go down and buy stuff to make one?" He suggested. I nodded.
"Great idea. Let's go!" We walked out of the house and set off towards the nearest shop.PonyBoy's P.O.V
Sophia is a great girl. She is super funny and knows just what to say. To be honest, I'm glad I'm trick or treating with her. We reached a shop and went in. "Where do I look first?" She asked me, looking around.
"The clothes area I think, we can find some cheap clothes in there." She nodded and walked off, determined to find something useful. "I'll be looking for paint?" I yell after her, she just nods and then disappears. I start to head towards the craft section when I see a familiar mustang pull up. It's not Bob's but it's one of his friends. They see me and jump out excitedly. I sprint away, to the back of the shop when I remember Sophia. Turning around I run back to the front of the store and quickly turn down the clothes aisle. The socs would be inside now. Yep. Sure enough I hear the little bell attached to the store door ring and hear the voices of our enemies. Ahead is Sophia, I jump at her and she shrieks. "Sssh. There are socs looking for us. We have to hide." She looks at me and nods. We look around desperately and then I have an idea. There is a long bench type thing filled with shoes in front of some men's jackets. We dive behind there and cover ourselves in clothes that had fallen down. The socs were slowly coming towards us but they couldn't see us because the shoe bench was in the way and the jackets hung over us. We could see them though. They walked past, looking around. When one of them started coming in our direction my heart beat sped up about 50 miles per hour. However, the shop owner came hurtling around the corner with a baseball bat held over his head. The socs took one look at him and fled."Sophia. Sophia. Sophia!!!" I shook the girl but she didn't move. It was obviously her first time being hunted by socs. "Soph, it's okay. They're gone" she opened her big brown eyes and then launched herself at me. "Oh god, oh god, oh GOD." She sobbed into my arms, frightened at the socs attack. "It's okay. They're gone." I rubbed her back until she was okay. The store owner came and saw us. "Hey. Those socs scared her real bad. Say, why don't I give you guys a 50% discount. I don't usually do stuff like this but that girl looks like she's just seen a ghost." I thanked the man and whispered in Sophia's ear, "want to finish shopping?" She nodded and we got up. She reached for my hand and I didn't resist. Somehow, it felt like it fitted in mine. We found clothes and paint and makeup and then we decided to buy chocolates. Well I decided. Sophia hadn't really said anything after what happened. We walked silently to my house before I confronted her. "Sophia look." I started, he lip wobbled. "As long as I'm around, those socs won't hurt you. Okay?" She nodded slightly although I knew she didn't really believe me. "I promise. It's what friends do for each other." I pulled her into my arms and we stood for a moment hugging. Are we friends? I thought, or are more?
