"Court! Wake up!" I heard Caleb whine, shaking me awake.
"Stop! You idiot, I'm awake!" I smacked his heart, laughing. He looked at me, laughing, pulling me up by my arms.
"You look so cute!" He laughed.
"No, shut up." I glared, rolling my eyes.
"Hey! Don't say that to me." He grew serious. I scanned his face for any sign of him to be joking but found none. He was bring completely serious. "Sorry." My brow furred at him as his sudden mood change confused me. "Well should we eat breakfast?" He cracked his usual boyish smile. "We shall." I scurried to the kitchen, sliding on the wood floor with my socks. "What're we having today?" I asked, lifting myself onto the counter.
Caleb was peering in the fridge when I took the opportunity to smack his butt, "Ow!" He jumped, whipping around with the egg carton in hand.
"Payback is the worst!" I teased, laughing.
"I'll get you back for this, don't worry." He smirked, whisking the eggs. I smiled contently because of how my life was right now it was finally all settling down. I had my own apartment now and had a decent job, it kept my bills paid so it was good enough, I didn't need to rely on anyone. I was finally happy, and was proud of how well I was doing."Courtney." Caleb's harsh voice, snapped out of my daydream. I looked toward him, eyebrows raised. "Orange juice or chocolate milk?" He held up the two jugs.
"Chocolate for sure!" I pointed, crinkling my nose as I laughed. He nodded, sending me a wink, as he got our plates. The aroma from the eggs smelled amazing, he'd seasoned them to perfection!
A moan escaped my mouth as I shoveled in my eggs, glancing up as Caleb and he was staring at me. "Good there?"
"Yes." I smiled, wiping my mouth. "You made these taste so good!" I gushed, as he continued to stare.
"Well I'm glad you like them, Court." He smiled, digging into his own plate. The rain was going down in buckets, "I haven't seen a rain this hard since we were little." I said to Caleb as I was seated by the window.
"Yeah, we should go out to the lake." He stated instead of asking, as he gathered his hoodie and sneakers.
"But we'll get soaked." I protested, frantically looking from him to the down pour outside.
"Stop complaining, it'll be fun." He smiled, bringing me my own jacket and shoes.
"I guess you're right." I said grabbing my keys. "Come on then, Caleb!" He smiled, jogging out the door.
We drove with minimal chatter which I thought was strange because Caleb usually doesn't shut up in the car, but he might be tired.
"Caleb could you get my phone, I think I dropped it on the floor."
"Yeah!" He bent over feeling for my phone. "Not here, buddy." He sat back up empty handed.
I groaned, I must've forgot it. But I couldn't remember where. I pulled into the spot in front of the lake, preparing to get soaked. "Are you su-"
"Yes." He said harshly, smiling innocently after. I shrugged, pulling my hood tight. We both took off running towards the pavilion, right by the lake.
I ran into Caleb as I wasn't watching where I was going, "Oomph!" He had his arm around my waist to keep me from falling.
"I got you," He smiled. "would you grow please, you're so small." I glared at him as he knew I hated my height.
"I can't change it!" I stomped my foot, glaring him down. "You should shrink, you giant." I rolled my eyes, he stepped closer to me, cupping my cheek. His eyes met mine and something in him looked different.
"Courtney" he paused as removed his hands from my face and put them in his pockets, I didn't look away from his bright yellow eyes, "I'm so sorry." And his hands were covering my mouth with a cloth and holding the back of my head.
Panic stroke me as I tried ripping out of his grip, as my vision become dull, eventually disappearing as I fell asleep.Boring I know I'm sorry, I just needed some way to get the story to start! Comment and Vote!!
