A crowd has once again formed in the school lobby by the bulletin board. A flyer which indicated the student council's latest project was posted in the bulletin board. I knew it was a stupid project. A speed dating extravaganza for the singles this Saturday was the stupidest project the student council has ever came up with. Who finds true love in five minutes of dating? But people crowded for more information and listed their names to register as soon as they found out about it.

"So people pay $2 now just to date this valentines' day." I groaned and looked at the dollars being passed to the Student council treasurer who was receiving the payments for the registration. The flyer also indicated that the proceeds of the extravaganza will go to the renovation of the science rooftop garden.

"How stupid."

"What do you mean this is stupid?!" Elena Moore, a friend of mine since middle school came marching to me. As usual, she walked like a catwalk model, it was as if she was modeling her black heels and skater dress. With her prominent cheekbones, long eyelashes and eyes that sparkle like a green sea, every guy would be pleased to see her seated face to face with them during the speed dating extravaganza. She was always a popular girl in school after all, with the beauty she had.

"I was the one who suggested this to Allie you know." She smirked. I blushed at the thought of Allie, the girl I have always looked and admired from afar. "And you know, this is not a bad idea at all. Isn't this a great chance to finally tell her what you feel?" She said and smiled like she had something up on her sleeve. She pulled a pen from her pocket and walked right into the crowd, the crowd split in half as she walked, giving way for her. That was how Elena was respected in school, just like a queen. I walked behind her, only to see that she wrote my name right beside hers.

"Wait--What?!" I exclaimed in surprise. "Hey Elena!" She was already talking to the student council treasurer and paying him $4.

"That's for me and Brian." She told him.

"Hey! Give her back the $2 dollars, she's just messing with me!" I told the treasurer.

"What's happening here?" Elena, the treasurer and I looked up to see Allison Farro, Elena's bestfriend, student council president and apparently, my first love whom I have never stopped loving since I met her. She wasn't as drop dead gorgeous as Elena is. She was plain simple with her ash blonde hair down on her shoulders, a star wars hoodie , jeans, and chucks. I looked at her and grew bright red as she looked at me and Elena puzzlingly.

"Brian didn't want to join the extravaganza!" Elena said and pulled out a convincing act. Allie giggled, her big sky colored eyes forming crescents, "You don't have to join if you don't want to. It's fine really."

"No, I was just about to... Erm... Pay." I said and pulled two dollars from my pocket and handed them grumpily to Elena. "Hand them over to the treasurer please." I sarcastically smiled. Elena pulled out a smug grin as she gave the money to the treasurer who stood awkwardly between us.

"I thought Brian didn't have money, I was supposed to pay for him." Elena chimed.

"Don't worry Elena, my wallet can give out a few dollars for a student council project." I said, smiling sarcastically. Allie looked at me and Elena with an eyebrow raised, "Is something else up between the two of you?"

"Nothing really." Elena and I replied in chorus.

"But hey, thanks guys for the support." Allie said.

"Don't worry Allie, it'd be successful." I reassured her and she smiled back at me. Allie then trailed off to help the treasurer and thanked each student who signed up for the event. I looked at her from where I stood as she smiled at everyone and eagerly did her job as the student council president.
