Adek burst through the door, his dark, curly hair trying to catch up, and the brisk Kartherfield air filled his lungs. A mixture of the smells of the docks, town, and the forest nearby flooded his nostrils. He ran into the ally, pacing himself just enough to hear Thomas fly through the door and into the allyway.

Adek sped up the pace and pulled away, but the things he accidentally knocked over on his way created a trail that Thomas could follow. He stopped well ahead of Thomas. His eyes flashed green and a ball of green light materialized in the palm of his hand. He threw it like a ball and it stopped in mid-air a little ways down the ally. An image of himself running appeared where the ball stopped. He smiled to him self, ducked into an open doorway, and pulled off his gauntlets, waiting.

Thomas saw the man who took everything he owned running down the ally. He pulled off his loaded cross bow and shot. In a matter of seconds the, bolt whizzed a hundred meters through the air and hit the man in the head, but instead of the thunk of the bolt hitting home, it went straight through the man.

Suddenly, Thomas felt a giant blow to the chest from the flat of an axe head. Looking to the side, he saw the man he just killed, axe in hand and ready to fight. Thomas, shocked, instinctively pulled out his sword, faking a downward blow, and slashed it across the man's ribs.

It was a good move, but Adek was better. He intercepted the blade with his axe handle, catching it under the axe head, and, with immense ease, flicked it out of Thomas's hand onto the cold wet stone. Thomas lost his balance and was lifted like a doll into the air by the big furry arm of a half changed Adek. His once green eyes were now yellow and hungry.

"If you come after me again, you won't be so lucky," He growled.

Thomas chose this moment to pass out. In his sleeping state he remembered the were-thief that took all he owned in gold (and no doubt all the valuables at his shop).

Thomas hated that man. He hated the dark arts. He vowed, from that day on, to train to help rid Arulen of both.
