Broken Arrow

Chapter Seven

My heart beats faster as we get closer, we have been heading north-east for ten minutes. We speed walk in formation through the forest. Lily is in front to see what is ahead, Luna is on the left of Lily to be fast to help. I am on the right to look in the more 'tree' side. Nick is behind Luna to have an archer on the left, Skyler is behind me to have a swordsman on the right. Misty is behind lily where she is guarded in the front and sides. I tighten my grip on my bow and strain my eyes on the trees. We meet a clearing and I stiffen.

Lily raises her hand and we stop. An arrow flies out of the top of a tree and hits Lily in her left shoulder. We all duck and run for cover, I run behind a tree across from Lily. She pulls the arrow out and throws it on the ground, she looks at me and nods. I pull out an arrow and nod back. I look around my tree and a person runs from one tree to another; I pull my head back and take a deep breath. Here we go. I whip around the tree and see the person behind the same tree, I shoot him in the heart, when he leans to look, and he falls to the ground. I hear the click of a crossbow loading so I pull out an arrow, looking for a glow from the light reflecting off the crossbow. I see it, it is in a tree straight from where Lily was shot; I aim, but the person is quick. An arrow shoots from the tree moving the leaves, I lean to the right as it skims my left cheek. Blood slides down my cheek as I re aim, I fire and hear a scream as a girl falls out of the tree with my arrow in her arm. I shoot again, but a man blocks it with his sword and then runs towards me. He reaches me and swings down at my head, but I block it with my bow.

The man keeps pushing down and I can't hold him much longer. He picks up his sword catching me off guard making me fall forwards. He swings down again, but i can't block it this time. A sword comes from the right and blocks it, pushing the man back, I look up and see Lily. Her left arm is covered in blood and close to her side. She has her sword out ready to fight the man, she looks at me "Go."

I nod, but I don't think she can handle it. I jump up and look around. Nick is shooting at people in the trees, Skyler is fighting three people. I pull out an arrow and aim at one of the men fighting Skyler. I look quickly back and forth, but they are moving so fast, I can't get a good shot. Skyler blocks a man's attack and they hold it, now is my chance. I shoot at him and it hits him in the chest and he stumbles backwards; I shoot again and he falls to the ground. Skyler looks at me and nods then starts fighting the other two. I smile a little then look for Luna. She is fighting a girl with Katana blades and losing. I start running to her when a pain shoots through my thigh and I fall to the ground. I look down at my thigh and an arrow is sticking out the side, I scream as I grab it. The pain is going through me like a poison, I pull it out and throw it down.

A girl with curly brown hair runs up and and tries to stab me, but I roll to the side and she stabs the ground. I kick her feet with my left my left leg and she falls to the ground; I jump up and grab an arrow and stab her with it. I pull it out and put it in my bow then whip around to help Luna, but she already won. She pulls her sword out of the girl's stomach; the girl falls into her arms and Luna lays her down then closes the girl's eyes. I hear a branch snap behind me and I whip around as a man runs up to me, he swings and I duck pushing forwards getting behind him. I shoot him in the back and he turns around swinging, I jump back, but he hit my left arm. He charges at me and I grab an arrow, but I am too slow; I duck barely missing it. I lunge forwards stabbing him with my arrow.

I turn around looking for Lily and she has five people laying around her while fighting three more. I look at Skyler, Misty is wrapping her arm while Nick is guarding. I start limping when, out of the corner of my eye, I see a man jumping out of a tree with his sword raised. I dive forwards and hear his sword hit the ground, a woman runs from behind a tree and swings down at me so I roll. I get up and reach for an arrow, but the man is already swinging so I duck while the woman is one step ahead. She kicks me in the side of my head and I fall to the ground. I shake my head dizzily and then I get kicked in the stomach and I fall to my side. I look up and the man is about to stab me so I roll out of the way. I jump up and reach for an arrow, but the woman is about to stab me. I lean to the side, but I am to slow, the sword slices through my side and deep. I grab my side and blood starts seeping through my fingers. I back up wincing and the man gets in his fighting stance; the woman swings her sword around and gets in her fighting stance too.

I need to think. My heart is racing, I look at them and the girl smiles stepping closer so I step back. They are trying to keep me occupied so I can't get an arrow, so what I do is fight with my bow to give me enough time to get an arrow. I take a deep breath, here we go. I reach for an arrow and the man lunges forwards trying to stab me so I dodge it and swing at the woman with my bow, she blocks it and I kick her back. I turn and block the man's sword with my bow and push him off. I turn and hit the girl in the face and she stumbles back. I pull out an arrow and turn around and shoot the man then turn to the girl. She raises her hands and smiles. "I guess this shoes your answer." I shoot her and lower my bow staring at her body. Now I am a target, but how did she know? Sophie must be here, somewhere.

"Julia!" Someone yells. I pull out an arrow and look at Lily. She is in the middle of fighting so she couldn't of yelled. Nick is helping Skyler fight a girl with great dodging skills. She dodges Nick's arrows and Skyler's combos. Misty is wrapping her left wrist so it can't be them, oh no Luna. I whip around to see a man holding Luna's arm, keeping her on her knees. Luna's sword is on the ground a few feet away and her shield is still on her hand, but the man is stepping on it. I aim at him, but someone kicks the back of my knee and grabs my hair pulling me back to watch Luna struggle. I go to grab my bow, but the person puts their sword to my thought and I stop, slowly returning.

"Don't get any ideas -" a female voice whispers in my ear, "Julia." I freeze, I know this voice.

"Soph -" I start.

"Shhhh watch the show."

I look at Luna. She struggles to free her hand in her shield then looks at the man. He kicks Luna in her elbow, breaking it. She screams and falls to the ground grabbing it. I lean forward a little and I feel Sophie smile behind me. The man leans back to kill Luna when an arrow hits the man and Nick runs to her side with his crossbow raised.

"Fall back!" Lily yells helping Skyler run back. Nick helps Luna up and runs back too. I get up pulling out an arrow and grab my bow making sure we aren't followed. I catch up and we meet in an open field with a big rock in the middle, Nick helps Luna sit against it. Misty sits down with two sticks and places them on both sides of Luna's elbow, she starts wrapping Luna's elbow with the sticks underneath. Lily has her shoulder wrapped, but has a cut on her thigh and cheek. Skyler's arm is wrapped and she is beat up pretty bad. Nick has a cut on this arm. Luna's thigh is cut, her elbow broken, and she has a huge bruise on her cheek.

Misty finishes and sits back. "There that should keep the bone straight before you get the shot." Misty has a cut on her arm and cheek. She looks at me and covers her mouth. "Oh my gosh!" She runs up to me, "Sit down!" I sit and she lifts my shirt.

"Hey-" I start.

"Sh, you're fine." She puts a creme on my cut and it feels like she just put fire on my side. I glare at Nick and he quickly covers his eyes. The pain again.

"Ow!"

"You're fine." She puts a patch on it and starts wrapping.

"Julia, why didn't you help Luna? You were just sitting there." Skyler asks with her arms crossed.

"Yeah you had a good shot that I had to take." Nick adds facing the tree next to me with this hand over his eyes.

"Nick I'm over here." I say and he turns.

"Right."

I roll my eyes. "I would have, but someone was holding me." I answer Skyler's question.

Misty stops and looks at me. "Julia... No one was there."
