I was running as fast as I could. Running away from these creatures that were after me. They looked like shadows with animal-like features. I was trying to find someone, anyone for help. But there was no one. I was all alone with these creatures after me.
Suddenly I see a building not far ahead. When I finally reached the it, I hesitated. I was terrified, but something inside was telling me to go inside . I slowly entered the building. It was quiet and dark. The only thing that was giving off light was coming from a torch that was right next to a cell.
I walked toward the cell to see who, or what, was in there. My eyes widened and I felt as if my heart had froze. Tears start traveling down my cheeks. The sight was horrifying. Dead bodies. Dead bodies everywhere, so many they were piling on top of one another.
I couldn't take it. I had to get out of here.
Fear coursed through me. My mind scrambled uselessly as I tried to piece everything I was seeing together. I could hardly form a coherent thought.
There was blood everywhere on the walls and on the floor. I put my face in my hands, as if to block out the sight, sobbing harder as I felt the tears travel down my face.
All of a sudden I felt something moist hit my hand and the side of my face. It was sticky and as it traveled to my mouth, I realized it tasted like iron.
I slowly pulled my hands away from my face. Blood. Covering every inch of my hands. The bright red made me dizzy and the tangy smell made my stomach heave. I inhaled deeply.
And screamed.
"Ah!"
My eyes popped opened. I felt as if I couldn't breath. My heart was beating wildly in my chest. Sweat poured down my face.
'It was just a nightmare.' I told myself.
Even as I tried convincing myself, the dream, it felt so real. I tried to calm myself down. I looked at the clock and groaned. It was only 3:00 a.m.
"Ugh"
I still had another 2 hours until I had to get ready for school.
I didn't know what else to do. I couldn't force myself back to sleep I was too terrified. So I just started to think about the dream. It gave me such a foreboding feeling . I'd never had such a vivid dream. Why was this one an exception? I let my imagination linger on the possibility of my dream being a flashback of some long ago tragedy my brain wanted me to forget about. I snorted at my own childishness. That's impossible.
' It's only my imagination' I thought, taking a deep breath.
The time went by fast. And my 2 hours were almost up. Looks like I'm getting ready for school early today.
