Sasori's POV

There was something wrong with Deidara... I could feel it... I sighed as I stood in the kitchen, staring at the crushed apple on the palm of my hand.

He's such a horrible liar... I thought, wiping the mushed apple off of my hand.

I walked out into the other room. Konan was left in there alone. She was cleaning stuff up. I walked over to her.

"Want me to help you?" I asked.

She looked up and smiled at me.

"Oh, sure! Thank you Sasori... You being human is actually really nice." She said.

I felt my lips curve into a smile and I helped her clean our living room up.

"I'm glad Hidan and Kakuzu are going to be away on a mission for a few days... They're always getting into fights and destroying the living room. They'll get to fight and not destroy anything for once." She said.

I felt myself chuckle involuntarily.

"That's true." I said, wincing as I stepped on a piece of a broken cup.

We cleaned in silence for a few moments and I glanced at her. I knew if something happened to Deidara that he'd go to her before anyone else. I cleared my throat and smiled at her.

"Hey, Konan, does Deidara seem... Different to you?" I asked, trying to ease the answer out of her slowly.

I saw her lips tighten a little but her reply was smooth.

"Yeah, a little bit, but I'm sure he's fine. He probably got stabbed or something and is just reeling from that. He's not a hand-to-hand fighter, you know this Sasori." She said calmly, but there was an edge to her voice as if she was warning me to watch what I said.

"Yeah, I know he's not, but I also know that he wasn't stabbed. If he was I'd have seen it when he was sleeping. He doesn't normally sleep with a shirt on Konan." I replied casually.

Konan was slightly paler than normal as she put the couch cushions back where they belonged.

"I never said that he did get stabbed, Sasori, I just gave you an example. Besides I'm sure he's fine..." She said firmly.

I shrugged and threw a piece of fabric into the trash can.

"I'm sure he's fine to, but did he say anything to you last night about the mission?" I inquired, turning my gaze towards her.

Now I could see I was really making her nervous. It wasn't that she was bad at keeping secrets, it was that she wasn't used to a confrontation like this, especially from me. She took a deep breath and met my gaze full on.

"No, Sasori, Deidara did not come to me and talk to me last night. For the last time he's fine, just tired from his mission. Give him time and he'll be the same Deidara that he's always been." She said curtly.

I sighed and turned to her. I knew she wouldn't say much more about the issue, but I still wanted to know what was bothering Deidara.

"Look, I know something's wrong with him. He's not normally like this! Besides, I saw a weird mark on his neck last night and I'm pretty sure that worried me. I can't tell though, I'm not too good on reading these emotion things yet..." I said.

Konan turned to me, her amber eyes wide with slight surprise.

"You... You saw a mark on his neck last night?" She asked softly.

I nodded. She seemed to be at a loss for words before she eventually cleared her throat and turned away from me again.

"I can't tell you what he told me because he asked me to keep it a secret for him. Yes, something is wrong with him, and he's probably going to kill me because I'm telling you this, but I can't say anymore on the issue, alright Sasori... If you want to know more go talk to him, but other than that I can't say anything else..." She said, slight strain in her voice.

I huffed and looked away angrily.

"Alright fine... I'll go ask the little brat myself..." I hissed.

Before I could walk upstairs Konan turned around.

"This is exactly why I was told to keep you in the dark... You're just going to be mean to him and make the situation worse!" She exclaimed.

I froze and turned to her in shock.

"Wait... He told you not to tell me?" I asked in shock.

She sighed and nodded.

"Yes, and can you blame him Sasori? You've always been kind of a jerk to him before... He can't trust you with things like this... Just... If you are going to confront him, just be nicer to him ok... Please..." She said weakly.

I sighed and turned away, walking upstairs to the room. I flopped down on my bed and groaned. I heard the shower turn off. I heard the bathroom door open slightly and I looked up. Deidara was poking his head out of the bathroom.

"Oh hey, un. I didn't hear you come up... Uh... I need to get my clothes... Can you uh... Turn away or something?" He asked, his cheeks a bright pink.

I rolled my eyes and turned away from him. I heard him shuffling around behind me.

"I need to talk to you when you're done alright." I said calmly.

I heard him freeze then he sighed.

"Yeah, alright... Let me get dressed first, alright?" He said.

I heard him go back into the bathroom and I rolled over onto my back. Konan's words rang through my head.

"You'll just be mean to him and make things worse!"

Hah... I can be nice to the little brat if I wanted to... He just needs to stop keeping things from me... I thought.

Deidara came back out after a little while and I turned to him.

"So tell me, what exactly happened on the mission. You never truly elaborated downstairs." I said calmly.

I saw him tense slightly and I felt a slight pang of... Guilt I think, and I sighed.

Come on Deidara... Tell me what happened to you... Please... I thought.
