I saw you, that day when I was eight. I swear it was you; you stood at the bottom of my tree house. Your rusty brown hair covered your pale green eyes. You were tanned even though you looked like you have never seen the light of day.
I remember standing there just at the door of the tree house; I just looked down at you. All you did was look up at me through your hair…… I then heard something and saw you start climbing up towards me; that scared me so much that I even tried to get back into my tree house, to lock it….. To, keep me inside. Where, it was safe.
But I couldn’t open the door; it was like it was locked from the inside. I looked back and saw you just and saw you just sitting there looking at me studying me silently. This felt like the horrible truth had arisen. I pressed myself into the door, and just sat on the wooden planks that were for the flooring.
Your pale eyes had a saddened expression about them, but I didn’t know why you were sad. I felt really bad even though I didn’t know if I had anything to do with it ….
I saw you starting to tremble, I stood up to open the door and I saw a look of panic in your eyes, I sighed “I’m not going to do anything to you I promise.” I offered you a friendly smile which you only returned with a weak toothy smile. I opened the door to my amazement; it probably opened because of the lack of pressure on it as before. Once I was inside I rushed around looking for anything that was warm. I eventually found my puppy day care blanket.
I turned around to walk out but you had crawled inside and closed the door Locking, the cold air out; But the heat from the space heater. I had taken cautious steps towards you as I held the blanket out to your trembling form.
I knew it was dangerous….. Having you so close but yet so far I saw you reach for the blanket which made me taking my steps back. But then I got my courage and walked forward again kneeling in front of you… I wrapped the blanket around you and you hugged it close to your body like it was the only thing keeping you from turning into snows yourself.
I stayed there studying you closely I never thought I would ever trust you ever. Until you said in a small shy and saddened voice, “Can we be friends? I promise I won’t hurt you ever I’ll keep that promise forever and don’t you forget it.” I smiled at you as I nodded

You came back, almost every month just on the last day. You always ended up shivering even in the blistering sun… But the thing I remember was that your tummy always rumbled like you hadn’t eaten something in weeks. So I started bringing food for you. I just watched you closely as you did as if I was so interested in that one little moment. My excuse was that I needed all of these food was for my tea parties.
I always give you some of my other brothers clothing. It was better than anything you had normally shown up in. it normally was all dirty and mucky but I didn’t say anything I had just left the clothing on the side and the tree houses bathroom it wasn’t the biggest or the best but it was still useable. I had no idea how my dad had made it but it was effective.
I remember my brother saying to my mum that I was up to no good. But I was up to good so I thought anyway….. He said that he doesn’t approve of me anymore that I am not response which I hated. But I still went out to talk and to play games with you. You were my only true friend.

It is now nine years later from the day I met you. I’m now seventeen which made you sixteen. I was a year older even though I had matured, you were more so. I know you have been in California for ten years, or so you had told me. So you have been in the country for ten years. But we had met a year after your first year here.
