Me and Owen had been best friends for 10 years. Everyone in that high school was just waiting for us to say that we were a couple but it just isn't going to happen. Me and Owen have had our moments where we felt like we should be together but we both know we are not cut out for each other, we're too much alike.

I decided to let Owen drive since he's a lot better of a driver than me. We were on the road just the two of us trying to find a gas station. We have lived in a small town in Georgia for 18 years and its a well known fact that the reason there are barely any gas stations is because there's no where to go. We drove out of our town and made our way into Chattanooga Tennessee; aka the best place on earth. This is where Owen and I have spent our high school days. Eating at Thai restaurants and watching bands play at the Camp House. It was kind of our thing.

The sun was just beginning to set and we had already made two stops at Mcdonalds and Starbucks. Driving time - About 6 hours.

12 interesting hours later of listening to The Smiths , The Cure, and various other bands we had made it to Oklahoma. There wasn't much to see and the towns we were driving through were kind of dull but, not much is going on at 4 in the morning. One thing caught my eye yes, the Waffle house. We parked my van and ran inside.I was starving and wanted some real food other than the potato chips i'd been eating. I sat down in a booth right next to the men's restroom, bad idea. Our waiter was named bubbles and she was clearly a massive stoner (she had a pot leaf necklace rapped around her neck). Bubbles was quite the talker as well.

"I'm Bubbles and ill be your waiter today what can i get y'all? Actually you two look familiar were y'all on that show....uh.... the voice!?" Bubbles jumped up and down and both me and Owen burst out into laughter.

"No we were not on the voice." Owen managed to say between laughs. We gave our order and the rest of our time waiting was listening to Bubbles sing "Let it go" and "You give love a bad name". It was quite the meal.

"So where to next?" I asked between bites of my chocolate chip pancake.

"Albuquerque!" Owen said in an excited tone.

"Whats so exciting about Albuquerque?" I asked laughing at him.

"They have a killer botanic garden there." Owen said with a smirk.

"You've got to be kidding me Owen!"

"Oh, but i'm not Frank. I really like botanical gardens." he winked and he left a tip to bubbles.

So, we were back on the road headed to Albuquerque, New Mexico. I fell asleep a few times on the way but we finally made it. I lifted my head to see we were parked in a parking lot and ahead of me was a sign saying "Rio Grande Botanical Garden". Owen got out of the car and i quickly had to remind him it was 7 AM and it was definitely not open.

"I'm gonna go check it out." Owen said jogging off to the front of the garden.

What did we do next? Yes, we broke in to a botanic garden at 7 am. It was the logical thing to do. Owen walked slowly into the garden building letting what he just did process through his brain.

"You'd think they would have a security system" I laughed nervously. I know me and Owen both seem like bad asses (or so we think) but really in the end this is the baddest thing we've ever done. Owen walked over to a door that led to where the butterflies are. He tried opening the door but a loud alarm went off. At that moment we knew we were screwed. Without words me and Owen both jolted back to the van and in the distance i saw red and blue police car lights. We drove off down a back road as fast as we good, jumped out the car and hid out in some bushes for about 45 minutes.

"My father wouldn't approve of this." Owen said in a shaky voice. Owens parents were both cops but died in a shootout when he was 9.

"Owen shut up I hear someone." I said as quietly as i could. It was definitely a cops voice. He had a flashlight and it was shining right at the bushes. I thought our entire road trip was ruined because we broke into that garden but then, the light of the flashlight disappeared and the cop as no where to be seen. They left! Me and Owen sat there for another 20 minutes until we got up, brushed the leaves off us, and jumped in the van.

Our next stop was the most expensive hotel we could find. We definitely deserved an ornate 17th floor suit. We got the best suit at Hotel Andaluz. I was swimming in cash because my parents own a huge insurance company and they basically pay me to leave them be and most of the time i have no clue what to do with the money so, i spend it on things me and Owen don't need. We got up to our suite and put down our bags. Our room was two stories, a glass spiral staircase, multiple huge windows with a great view , and our own pool. We were living good for one night before going back on the road. Me and Owen pumped up Home by Current Joys on the stereo and just danced. It was great and i couldn't ask for a better friend than Owen.
