My Journey - The Story

In 2007 me and my family moved to Australia from England. My mum had already once been on anti-depressants due to stress over a family issue. When we arrived in Australia and I started school I made immediate friends with two girls Sophia and Sarah - needless to say neither of these girls go to the school any more. The following year I made friends with a girl named Jessica, she is still my friend, just not my best friend like she once used to be.

At the end of the year a girl came and her name was Caitlin despite me many times calling her Catherine, to this day Caitlin is still my friend, my best friend. As a young kid you don't notice and important issues and by around grade 6 I struggled to notice my parents fights.

In grade 5 or 6 across the two years 4 girls joined the school, Mollie, Bridie, Marissa and Emily. My mum appeared happy now and life was quite nice. But then at the beginning of grade 6 there was a terrible accident which left a great person with us no more. Things just kept spiralling worse and worse after then.

In grade 7 I thought I knew who to rust, thought I was mature - but I was most definitely not. In grade 8 I learnt my true friends: Amber, Liv (sorta), Maddy and Caitlin. These girls are truly great.

Things at home started to get worse and numerous times I found my mum crying - dad had really done nothing she was just depressed. It's funny how sometimes suddenly you become aware of all the faults in your life and you realise how bad it is, or at least how bad it appears.

Mum to this day continues on the anti-depressants, I miss when she would cook and I wouldn't have to look after the family. I miss when I had grandparents. I miss when I was happy. Mum rents a place in town because of Mum and Dad's trial separation.

It's a funny thing lying in bed with mum when you're both crying your eyes out. Recently me and mum had a good cry because I wanted her back home, I just wanted things to be normal. While we struggle with debt I know no matter what happens we will always be a family.
