"Dorothy, no! Please, this is crazy. You can't do this!" Hunk yelled, trying to pull me away from the tall hill that overlooks our deep lake.
"I have to Hunk. Scarecrow- That is, Oz needs me. They can't defeat the wicked witch of the south on their own."
"You could die, Dorothy! You can't do this!"
I could tell how terribly worried he was for me but I had to get to Oz somehow. This had to work.
"I'm sorry, Hunk." I said, jerking free from him and running until I jump off the top of the hill.
"DOROTHY!" I heard Hunk bellow.
I'm so sorry, Hunk. I hope this works.
I slipped into the dark waters and I wait to be in Oz. I started to lose consciousness but I knew I couldn't give up. As I lost my train of thought, I thought of Scarecrow and how happy I was going to be to see him and hoped that he'd be happy to see me too.

I woke to having been surrounded in a soft blanket but I was still quite cold. My vision was nothingness at first but it grew into just blurriness. I saw a familiar face.
"Hunk?" I whispered hoarsely to the person whose arms I was laying in.
"Who's Hunk?" asked a slightly silly-sounding voice.
My vision focused and I saw that it was Scarecrow. "Scare...crow..."
"Sh sh sh sh. You've been through a lot to get here, haven't you, Dorothy?" he said as he shook his head with worry. "You shouldn't take such dangerous measures to get here."
"I didn't... Have a choice... I..."
"Hush, now, dear girl," Tinman said.
I smiled, weakly. "Tinman, you're here, too."
He pumped his fist in the air as his head made a train whistle sound and smoke floated from it. I giggled softly at the sight.
"I'm here, too." said Lion with grandeur.
"Oh... Are these your satin robes then...? I don't want to ruin them..." I said, trying to take them off but I was too weak to even sit up that far.
Scarecrow gently laid me back down every time I tried to sit up.
"It's fine, Dorothy. Anything for you." Lion assured me.
"But..."
"Shhhhh..." the three of them hushed, softly.
When I didn't say anything, Scarecrow continued, "I'm really glad you're back, Dorothy."
He smiled a big, goofy smile at me and I tried my best to smile back at him.
"Oh, yes. He really, really missed you, right, Scarecrow?" Tinman teased.
Scarecrow blushed and put his hand on the back of his head. "Uh, I mean, um..."
I giggled at him softly. And then I did something that I thought I'd never do. I kissed his cheek. It left a pouty little lipstick mark that could barely be seen through his dark blushing.
Looking back on it, I wish I would've came to my senses then. But I didn't. I admitted something worse than kissing his cheek.
"I love you, Scarecrow..." I said just as I lost consciousness once again.
