Amber couldn't remember much, only being cold and trying to find her mother;
Amber walked through the heavy snow. The snow stuck to her belly making her hunger even more apparent. Her brush was tucked to her side, her best efforts to keep warm. She was shaking so hard she found it hard to think straight and walk. Her soft kit paws were aching with cold and felt like they were burning.
She had been walking for a day and a night, and a large cough had swelled in her throat. She would have to stop every few minutes when she was overtaken by a rack of coughs. But, when the moon was full but no stars twinkled, she had crumpled into the snow as a strong gust of sn0w had hit her frail body, she had fallen with defeat. She looked up at the moon, it's bright glow covering her small body.
She sighed sadly and let the rest of herself fall into the snow. Her scarlet fur was a mess with clumps of sticky snow clinging on fiercly. With the last of her energy she tried to tug them out, she failed, the cold to much for her teeth.
She laid her head on top of her black paws. The last of her hope and warmth seeping out onto the cruel snow.
She could feel a bitter cold wind shaking branches in the trees. Then as she swerved her ears around trying to detect sound a heavy clump of snow fell from a branch in the trees. She felt immense pressure pushing down on her back. She was sure to suffocate.
But as she closed her eyes willing for death to come quickly and end her pain she felt strong gentle jaws close around her scarlet scruff.
She was too tired to protest or see who had picked her up, she glad that death wasn't stalking her so soon. But a thought lingered at the back of her head, what if this was death?

Amber woke in a warm den. The surrounding area smelt of earth and another fox. The fox's musky scent was strong and fogged out most other smells. She coughed, hard. The cough was so violent she was thrown to the ground and she couldn't see for a bit. It felt as if she had coughed out her insides. After stopping she took in a shaky breath. Trying to see what else was in the den.
The walls were made of earth with small roots coming from the roof. After looking around more she spotted a tawny pelt. Amber scooched closer, trying to see if the fox was alive or not. After further inspection she saw the gentle rise and fall of the fox's chest.
Amber decided it wouldn't be the smartest of ideas to wake the vixen. Instead she started looking for the exit. After searching she spotted a dip in the walls of the den. She scooted closer to that. She found that the exit had been covered in snow. A dim shine of light shone through the exit. She pawed at it and eventually the wall fell down. She started moving to go out until a gentle voice from behind her sounded.
"Now where do you think you're going, little fox?" the vixen had woke.
Amber flattened her ears. She could make a run for it, though she doubted she would be able to run fast enough to escape the vixen who was full grown and was in a healthy state.
"Outside?" Amber tried. Hoping the vixen was too sleepy to think straight
The vixen yawned wide. Her fangs glinting in the beam of light. She smacked her lips and stood.
"Okay, before we do anything though Teeko wants to talk to you," the tawny vixen nudged Amber out of the den.
Amber had to squint her eyes in the bright sunlight. The sky was bright blue but the air was frigid. She could tell it was early morning because foxes were coming out of dens. Some of them talking with foxes and leaving other cleaned themselves.
Amber shook her head and focused on her pawsteps. After walking on the frozen ground they came to a pile of large gray stones. Amber spotted a den under them. The den was sure to be the warmest of all the others.
"Here you go, Teeko is inside. I bit of advice is have some respect," then the
tawny vixen left to talk to an orange raynard.
Amber turned back to the den. She took in a deep sniff. The den had a sharp fresh scent. Amber cocked her head and dived in.
She had thought the den had sloped down but to her dismay was just flat, making her trip and dust sprinkled onto her pelt. She she tried to brush the dust from her pelt with her bush she heard a chuckle.
She turned around to see a red fox. Her head was a vibrant red that faded into a orange. Bottle green eyes watched Amber with amusement.
"Hello, fox-ka," she said, her voice was raspy but still sounded young.
Amber was at a loss of words.
"Are you still frozen silent from your night of cold?" she asked, her brilliant green eyes dug into Amber, demanding an answer but yet not demanding.
"N-no. And I was out for more then a night. My mother left me there yesterday morning. She promised she'd bring back a juicy mouse, she took my siblings though," Amber squeked.
The red fox nodded.
"Poor, poor fox-ka," the fox's eyes gleamed with sympathy, "my name is Teeko. This will be your new home,"
Amber was about to protest. But then a sick feeling of hurt made her eyes brim with tears, "But Mother will be looking for-" Amber couldn't finish. The words stuck to her throat.
The fox sighed and pulled Amber closer with her brush.
"What is your name, Fox-ka?" Teeko asked.
"A-amber," Amber sobbed quietly.
As Amber cried she heard Teeko talking but couldn't make out the words.
"Come," had said a ginger reynard and Amber stumbled after him. He brought her to the den she had slept in.
Amber said thank-you quietly and slowly dragged her paws into the den, falling asleep with thoughts of sorrow.
How was that? I think it was pretty good. Been working on it for awhile! Also the picture is of Amber.
