Juliet only wants to see Luke again and eventually meets up with Georges Méliès, a magician attempting to operate an early film camera. Georges helps repair her heart and agrees to join Juliet in the search for Luke. They proceed to Germany, Spain in search of him.
After a long journey they arrive at a circus in Germany. Juliet finds Luke but Georges advises her against revealing her identity to him. She proceeds to befriend he and foolishly avoids sharing her feelings. He hints that his heart belongs to someone from his past. It turns out that Juliet was that person from his past. Juliet eventually finds a way to reveal herself and gives a key to Luke which can be used to wind her heart.
Before Juliet and Luke could run away together, Maya, the bully from Juliet's past, shows up. She had been looking for an opportunity to further punish Juliet and explains to her the four rules of Juliet's glass clock heart in an attempt to sabotage them. Luke, after talking with Maya, decides she doesn't want to risk being the cause of death of Juliet by allowing her to fall in love. She rejects her, and leaves with Maya. Juliet, after being rejected, tears at the screws of her heart.
In the carriage with Luke and Maya, she tells her that soon after Juliet escaped with Madeleine's help, Madeleine was sent to prison. There, she died soon afterwards. Rumors said that she died of a broken heart. Luke eventually realizes he holds the key to Juliet's survival and returns to search for her. She finds out quickly Juliet had departed for home in the North Pole and follows behind her. She knows she has only a short time to reach him. When she reached home, she is told what happened to Madeleine. They also tell her that Juliet gave her the joy of being a mother and she worried at the thought of how she will grow up.
Luke finds Juliet in front of Madeleine's grave, shivering in the cold. She tries to use the key to turn her clock but she throws away the key, choosing love over life. Then they finally kiss. While they are kissing, Juliet, using her power to stop time (similar to what happened when Juliet first met Luke), climbs the snowflakes.
