Chapter 22

ERIK: fools. *hisses *the sea weed that was holding the ship wraps around each of the men and holds them tightly*

*they struggle and beg for mercy*

ERIK: MERCY! You just barely got it before! You think you get it now? *lifts hands into the air and a storm begins to form around them*

*they all begin to panic and some cry*

CREW MEMBER: Please!! I have a f-family!

ERIK: so do I. *the ship begins to go down but the men are suspended in the air by the seaweed* *he changes back into a merman and rises up on a wave*

*the ship is sunk below and the crew watch in horror*

DAVID (THE FAMILY CREW MEMBER): *sobs* Oh Helena... I'll never see you again...

ERIK: *hears him and decides to have mercy on the crew* *the seaweed flings the crew members onto the shore* *turns to the captain who is still hanging in the air by the seaweed*

CAPTAIN: *gulps in his presence*

ERIK: I spared your crew. They were acting under your orders. I have decided to take you below. *points at the swirling sea* See what the other merfolk want to do with you.

CAPTAIN: B-But..!

ERIK: but nothing. *lays a hand over the captain's mouth and then removes it, casting a spell that allows him to breath under water*

*seaweed drops him*

CAPTAIN: *yells desperately as he swirls down below*

ERIK: *swims up beside him and grabs his wrist* *begins heading for the castle*

ARIEL: *sighs* I'm sure he'll be back soon

ERIK: *arrives back with the captain* call the men of the city. We're holding court. *says to Ariel and Reza*

ARIEL: *nods*Ill assemble them. *smiles lightly and goes to gather them*

REZA: *helps*

CHRISTINE: *is holding on tightly to her son* It's alright Zack... Mommy's here...

ERIK: *chains the captain to seat* Mermen! I present to you the man who took your children and wives. I brought him here to know what you wished to be done with him.

*they all are appalled and yell things at the captain*

CAPTAIN: *looks afraid*

ERIK: *calms them as well as he can* what punishment do you want to give him?

DANIEL: I say we have him go for immediate execution.

*some nod*

GEORGE: But mermen we cannot sink to the human's level! I say imprisonment

*other half agrees*

ERIK: why don't we take away the thing he loves most?

*they all discuss*

DANIEL: What does he love most?

ERIK: *looks at him* I already took away his ship.

CAPTAIN: No... You can't take away... *stops*

ERIK: take away what? *swims towards him*

CAPTAIN: *stays silent*

ERIK: what is it that you love more than anything? *swims towards him and curls his hands around his neck*
