I twisted my hair into a ponytail, tucking it under my cap and lowering the brim. Then I took a final look around the room full of strangers, wondering which of them would help me escape, and which would try to kill me.

My eye caught on the scruffy looking boy in the corner. He was my best bet. I could see his piercing blue eyes from across the room. They looked tired and unread able, but he seemed like he wanted to be there as much as I did. I tried to get his attention but he was just staring into space. I’m going to have to go and talk to him without being noticed.

I felt I could trust him. He was about the same age as me sixteen, or maybe I was seventeen now. I can’t remember the date; I’ve been on the run for some time now, but either way what teenager would have the gut to track me down. I need to stop doubting my moves he would help me and I would be out of this place. On the count of three I’ll make my over there.

One..Two..Thr-

“HEY you come here” An old man shouted from across the room. He was starring at me with such rage. Oh No! Whispers were coming from all around me. I could hear my name in everyone of them. This isn’t good. I looked over to the boy and he was looking back at me. He looked puzzled. This is my last shot. I mouthed the word “help please”. He watched me for a second but it felt like a minute. He finally shock his head slowly, and thrust his thumb toward the door.

I could hear someone walking up to me and I took off. I pushed past all the people standing in my way, knocking a tall skinny woman into the table, but I didn’t care. I could hear people yelling from behind me stuff like:

“Stop her”

“Someone grab her”

“Does anyone have a gun?”

The last one scared me so I pushed faster toward the boy. I reached him and he pushed me out the door and then slammed the door close in a couple of people’s faces.

He turned toward me, I was lost in his eyes they were so blue, “Well aren’t you going to run”?

Oh yeah. I turned and started running across the road into a nearby field. At the end of the field was a forest. I could find a place to hide in there till I knew for sure I wasn’t being followed. I saw in the corner of my eye the boy running next to me. I turned to look at him and he smiled back at me, but he frowned when he turned his head back.

I did the same and saw that we had a mob of people after us. I thought church people were supposed to be nice. There had to be at least fifty. In my mind I saw about two hundred and they all had pitch forks, flamed stick and guns. I shock the nightmare out of my head and realized they were closing in. I turned my gaze forward and pushed my legs as hard as I could to go faster.

My life used to be perfect, and now I’m stuck running for my life, probably for a long time. With a complete stranger who may or may not want me dead. I was hoping he doesn’t, but it’s hard to trust anyone these days. You know when you little and your parents are responsible for the things you do like if you break something or you steal from the store they have to pay for it. Well in my world its different, I’m paying for my father’s mistakes.
