As I slipped on my white summer dress that flowed perfectly to my knees, my phone vibrated.  I picked it up off my desk where my computer sat, and read the following:

"Hey, sweetie. I miss you so much, are you better yet?   -Alex"

I had been "sick" for a week, missing school from Monday to Thursday.  Now, my mother was forcing me to pack up my bag and head off to school once again.  You see, I'm the popular girl at school.  But inside, I'm so lonely. I mean, sure, I have a perfect boyfriend, and awesome friends.  But my family is messed up.  In public, my family seems so loving.  But at home, there's constantly nagging and fighting.  My parents just got a divorce, and it kind of screwed things up at my mom's house.  I'm not allowed to see my dad very much, since he's an alcoholic, but sometimes I wonder if it would be better to live with him than my hysterical mother.

I slip open my keyboard and began to reply:

"Yeah, I'm coming to school today. I'll see you soon <3 "

I think most of the reason why I'm popular is because my mom's rich and I have a cool house.  It's big, and it has most of everything.  To give you an example, tonight my mom's going on a date, and I'm having a pool party while she's gone.

I grabbed my blue flats and backpack out of my closet door and headed downstairs for a quite breakfast.  My little sister, Emma, was making a mess of her cereal; wearing it all over her mouth and clothes.  Mom was on the phone, as always, talking to my soon-to-be stepdad, Mark.  I tried not to hear all the mushy gushy stuff that they were talking about, but I couldn't help myself from tilting my ear in to hear that they were planning to go to his lake house all this weekend and leave me here so that I wasn't "in the way of things".

This gave me today to make plans for the weekend.

Just as I was beginning to brainstorm, mom blurted out, "Get your butt to school! You're already going to be late."

I didn't reply as i headed for the door, swinging my backpack over one shoulder.  The school was only three blocks away from my mom's house, so I walked there every day, unless Alex picked me up.  He was always willing to help me to make my life easier to get through, and he understood what I was going through.

If I really cared about school, I would've been running.  But, as it were, I already had A's and B's, so what did it matter? School only had a week left until summer break.

I leisurely walked into my classroom and took my seat, surprised Mr. Harris didn't catch me late.  He was just about to take role, and Alex tapped me on the shoulder as to say, "Nice one".  I brushed his hand off with my arm, hoping he would get the point not to make it obvious I was late. He got it, and removed his hand, but quickly got up from behind me, kissed me on the cheek and whispered in my ear that he missed me.  I raised my face to look up at him with a grin, but he had maneuvered back to his seat swiftly.

Class seemed to go on forever until the bell rang to dismiss us.  I stood up and put my arms up to stretch while Alex hugged me from behind.  I lowered my arms and placed my hands gently on his, just perfectly enough for him to open his fingers to let mine in.

We were perfect.  Everyone knew we were perfect.  We knew we were perfect.  He was much taller than me, so he lowered his head to mine and kissed me slowly on the lips.  And our lives collided together.  We were inseparable.

As always, Alex walked me to my next class.  We always got stares and open-mouthed guys (and girls) as we held hands and walked down the halls.  It always seemed weird to me; even if they were already in relationships, they'd be jealous.  Don't ask me why.

We had reached our destination: Study hall.  Alex was always cute.  The thing is, his class was on the other side of school.  But he had to get that one last kiss before torture began again.  He leaned down, his lips puckered up, and I sprang forward onto my tip-toes to reach his mouth.  Again, we had stalkers. But it didn't bother us like it used to. We didn't care what people thought anymore.

After school, I met Alex by his car.  He always looked his best leaned up against his black mustang with a messy head of hair from the light wind.  His hands were in his pockets, so I ran up to him and but my arms through his and hugged his stomach tightly.  I looked up into his big blue eyes and he leaned down for a kiss.  After the quick "hello", I ran to the other side of his car to pull open the handle to the passenger side of the vehicle. I jumped in and looked out the drivers' window to see that Alex was still in the same position he was when I saw him from far off.

"Baby," I asked him, "are you okay?"

"Yeah, Mallory; just dozing off. Are you coming to my place?"

I nodded as to say "yes", and we were off.
