Haunting Christmas

The poorly lit street was covered with a thick blanket of pure white snow, bits of ice rained from the dark cloudy sky. The atmosphere became dull because the day was ending. The day where almost everyone thinks is the best day of the year. The day which almost everybody looks forward to.

Christmas.

Christmas is ending.

The street lights were dim and my jet black hair camouflaged in the night. A puff of cool mist escaped my pale lips when I huffed in the cold. My thick jacket was not enough to keep me warm; my gloved hands rubbed both of my arms the entire time, hopefully to create friction without the need to expose any part of my skin to the insanely freezing cold weather.

As I slowly paced towards my house in the dark alley, my boots made crunching sounds beneath my feet. It was a little difficult to walk due to the thick snow, but I managed because I was strong after all. If I was not, I would not have been who I am today.

A murderer.

This was never my ambition, I just became one. If I have killed one, why not more? Either way, I would be going to jail, I would be charged homicide.

How did it come to this?

Because of my first kill.

It was a terrible mistake, an accident. Until today, the memory haunts me whenever I close my eyes; much less sleep. The nightmares I experienced were beyond terrifying, eating me up with the intense guilt and a lot of pain.

Glimpses of a once bright cherry blossom hair turning dull.

Sparkling emerald eyes being drained.

The once flawless porcelain skin became torn and old.

An enchanting voice always echoing inside my head laced with pure vengeance and deep love which brought enormous pain.

The first person I murdered was indeed Sakura Haruno whom I grew to love the more I think about her. Even after the day she was mistakenly taken away from the surface of Earth by my own hands.

Weird is it not?

That is what life is.

To love we must pay a price, but we may not receive what we expect to have.

Plus, it is only after one's absence that we, human beings, learn to appreciate what is lost.

It has been exactly a year since her death.

25th December 2014.

Today is her first death anniversary.

25th December 2015.

Without her cheeky smile and dazzling eyes, it has indeed, been a dull Christmas, a dull year.

Being haunted by the one you love, is it a good thing?

As much as I am afraid, I am also happy to see her in my dreams.

Because I love her.

After that incident, a masked man approached me. He has gravity defying hair in a silver white colour. The only odd thing in his decent appearance is his eye patch; this made him mysterious. His name...

..is Kakashi Hatake.

Apparently, he knew about the accident with Sakura. I thought I was doomed back then, but he offered me a side job.

A contract killer.

Back then, I was the CEO of the Uchiha Corps. Despite my packed schedule, I always made time for my side job. It was easy, really. To offer my targets a job in my company or to lure them with money. It always worked that way. However, I do prefer to lure them with money. I really did not want my company to be suspected.

Currently, I am a full time assassin. I earned more than enough money for me to last a lifetime after I passed my position as the CEO to my most trusted staff.

Once I have reached my door steps, I find the door to my home blocked by a mountain of presents.

"Fuck.." I let out an inaudible groan silently.

A few presents in rather large boxes caught my attention. They were carefully wrapped in black wrapping papers with thin red line decorations and tiny white dots. Truthfully, the red hand prints were what caught my eyes. There were six boxes of them which made me think one of my fangirls are crazy enough to get me this much with such kind of fashion. Letting my curiosity get the better of me, I brought all six boxes into my home and left the rest outside.

All of them were surprisingly heavy. I set my house keys on my table and proceeded to start unwrapping the smallest box. I tore off the wrapper carefully and open the cardboard box.

What laid inside that box...

I sat there incredibly shocked with a gasp stuck in my throat and stared at the pair of eyes staring back at me, those that I have missed so dearly.

Emerald green eyes staring back into my onyx orbs.

Eyes which seemed pretty alive to me, but it was dull.

The head of my first kill, whom I loved and still love, was there.

Sitting in the small box.

Looking straight into my eyes.

The dull pink hair which lost it's smoothness were in a mess.

The rough skin cracked and her lips were torn.

Sakura Haruno.

My heart beat rapidly beneath my chest and stood up, moving on to the other boxes with shaking legs.

By the time I was done, I sat on the floor —or should I say— dropped on the floor while gapping at the opened boxes in horror, my body shaking out of control.

A complete corpse of Sakura Haruno were chopped into pieces, carefully wrapped in boxes as Christmas gifts to me, Sasuke Uchiha.

The hand print of the wrappers?

It was apparently blood prints after my inspection.

Whose blood? Could it be hers?

Impossible.

Impossible. He repeated.

How were the boxes sent to his door steps?

Who sent them?

This will all remain a mystery because truth does not exist in this world.

Nobody truly knows what lies beyond what we can see.
