I told her that I loved her, was not sure if she heard
The roof was pretty windy and she didn't say a word
Normani was sitting all alone on the roof of Lauren's house, her mind racing. Her eyes were red and puffy and the cold wind hitting her cheeks was making her feel sober. The alcohol in her system was almost gone now. She couldn't wait to get home and sleep it off, maybe tomorrow everything will be alright. Maybe tomorrow she will wake up and forget about seeing her girlfriend cheating on her.
But somehow, deep inside she knew she won't forget about it. She knew tears can't wash the pain away, she knew she can't just sleep it off.
The window opens and Lauren comes out from her room.
"Hey Mani, you okay?" The Latina asks
"Sure."
"Mani." Lauren says, her voice serious now
"I'm fine Lo, I'll be okay."
"Well until you're okay I'm staying here with you. And you can argue with me but this is my house, my roof and I am staying here."
Normani didn't say a word, she simply nodded.
For a few minutes the two of them were sitting on the roof. The only sound was the sound of the dying party going on downstairs. Although she was the host Lauren left everything to go upstairs and check on Normani.
The wind was getting stronger and Lauren made her way into the room, just a few seconds later she came back with a blanket in her arms.
This time she sat right next to the dark skinned girl, their arms touching and setting Lauren on fire.
She wrapped the blanket around them and kissed the top of Normani's head.
"You feeling better?"
"I don't want to go downstairs. I'm not ready."
"It's okay princess, we can stay here for however long you want."
"I like it when you call me princess. It makes me happy." Normani giggled
"Good. I love it when you're happy."
"Thanks babe, you're amazing, I love you."
Normani planted a kiss on Lauren's red cheeks and offered her a smile, then she turned her head to another side.
"I love you Normani." Lauren said just above the whisper, her words carrying more weight than the ones Normani said
-
Party dying downstairs, had nothing left to do
Just me, her and the moon
Time passed by and neither of the girls made an attempt to move. The only way Lauren moved her body she was stopped by Normani who pulled her closer. Lauren was stuck there. Not that she minds. She loves being next to Normani.
"Lauren," Normani said after what felt like forever "you don't have to be here, you should go downstairs, it's your birthday party."
"I'll have plenty of them, don't worry about that Mani, right now there's no place where I'd rather be."
"Lauren please, go downstairs, you're the soul of the party."
"Normani, stop it. I'm staying here with you until you feel better, no matter what."
"But what about everyone else? It's your house."
"I'm sure Chris can deal with them. I don't care about them Mani, you're my best friend. I have nothing to do downstairs if my best friend is here, especially if she's crying because her heart is broken."
