This one is pretty long-winded and, to be honest, I just wrote this without much prior thought of what will become of this... so if that sounds interesting to you, then please enjoy. (Edit: been awhile... No major changes, just some grammar and spelling fixes that I am ashamed to have had throughout here.)
**************************************Gumball's pov.
I was sitting in the super small kitchen in my apartment, glancing and reading over some notes I took from my biology lecture.
The dull inflorescence glow being my only source of light in the entire area where the kitchen and the living room connected. I lived in a two-person apartment on campus with a guy named Finn. He was gone a lot of the time, probably hanging out with his friends or something.
I ran my hands over my face, dragging them down and groaning dramatically. It was 10:30 at night and I was already missing sleep from the previous nights. It was hard for my eyes to stay open and not collapse into sleep.
My chin rested on my hand as I was finishing up some note cards, and just as my mind was slipping away from me, a hard knock came from the door.
I nearly fell to the floor from the overall suddenness of the sound. I grabbed my chest as my breathing picked up and was temporarily restored to full awareness.
The knock came again and I got up to answer, assuming it was Finn, either carrying too much food to open the door himself or hungover.
"Finn, don't knock so hard! You could wake the neighbors." I said as I opened the door in a harsh whisper, only to realize it wasn't Finn standing there.
"Is that really the first words I get to hear after all this time, gummybear?"
I opened the door slightly wider to let out more light to better see his face, even though I recognized the voice instantly and that stupid nickname.
"Marshall Lee?"

"The one and only..." I answered.
I stared at Gumball as he adjusted his glasses and stood up straighter. He had decently messy, pink hair and obvious bags under his eyes from not getting enough sleep.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
Before I could answer, I had to re-adjust my jacket because of the late autumn cold and growing winds.
"Is it possible I could come before we start talking?"
"Oh, of course!" He opened the door completely and stood out of the way before letting me in.
I rubbed my hands and breathed into them as I entered his, much warmer, apartment. He closed the door behind me and walked past me on his way to the kitchen.
"I'll make us some tea, okay?"
"Yeah, that'd be nice."
I sat down on the really firm couch in the apartment, gradually warming up. Gumball sat down next to me and waited politely until I was warm enough to talk.
"You still seem to be working as hard as ever."
He gave me a confused look until I pointed to the sole kitchen table filled with thick textbooks and paper.
"Oh, that. Yeah, I was studying for an upcoming test in my lecture class as well as lab."
"Sounds like fun." I said very sarcastically.
