Autumn dreamed of Dimitri. They were together, hand in hand and smiling at one another. She woke up because the bells went off down stairs. That meant the store was open for business. Their shop was right below where they lived. Autumn’s mother came up stairs fussing at her to get dressed, so she did. She could not keep the guy out of her mind. As she was going down the stairs he crept right back in her head and she tripped down the stairs.
Daniela: (angry) Child! What are you doing?
Autumn: (unevenly) Sorry mama, clumsy I guess.
(Daniela looked at her daughter skeptically.)
Daniela: I have errands to run I expect you to run the store while I am gone
Autumn: Yes mother.
(Then her mom left her alone. Just then a man came through the shop door. Autumn went to the cash register. The man walked up to her.)
Dimitri: Looking for roses, some one told me they are beautiful and have a purpose. Even if others think it is ugly.
Autumn: We actually do not sell them my mama does not like them. Thinks they are evil.
Dimitri: Why would she think that?
Autumn: She thinks that anything that could hurt you or anything ugly is the devils work. She thinks roses are both.
Dimitri :Your mother seems interesting. Do you always get along with her?
Autumn: No, more like never. She treats me like a child and never lets me leave this shop. She refuses to acknowledge the fact that I want to date. I am eighteen and have no freedom.
Dimitri: (smiling) Well then let us go on an adventure.
Autumn: (smiling) Okay
(Autumn put a closed sign on the door. Dimitri held his hand out to Autumn and Autumn took it. Hand in hand they walked down the streets.)
Dimitri: (His voice teasing) You must be a little scared. This must be the first bad thing you have done.
Autumn: (smiles) If that’s what you think your wrong. I sneak out the house all the time. This, this I will get in trouble for, locked away in my room.
Dimitri: Then why do it?
Autumn: You are different
Dimitri: As are you
(Dimitri brushed his hand against Autumns cheek, causing her to blush)
Autumn: Why are you here?
Dimitri: Because I like you and you’re special.
(We were standing in front of a flower shop.)
Autumn: Im not special, there are many more special things in this world, like flowers they start from a seed.
(Puts a seed in Dimities hand) They grow into something really beautiful, something that people admire.
Dimitri: (rolls eyes) You are something to admire. Flowers are beautiful but not as beautiful as you.
Autumn: (blushes)Thank you. Look pomegranate seeds; they taste the best!
(Dimitri holds them in his hands and looks down at them. Then looks up into Autumns eyes.)
Dimitri: Would you spend the rest of your life with me?
Autumn: What?
Dimitri: Do you want to spend the rest of your life with me? Yes we barely know each other but it was love at first sight when I saw you. I don’t know how you feel, but I think we are meant to be together.
Autumn: Are you serious about it I mean we barely know each other.
Dimitri: Yes all you need to do is eat the pomegranate seed.
Autumn: Why pomegranate seed?
Dimitri: Okay, how about keep this rose and we can be together
forever. I promise, but you cannot see your mother.
Autumn: Deal
Dimitri: (hands her a rose) Be careful do not prick yourself.
Autumn: I will not and if I do it will be worth it.
