"Emily Fields, Emily Fields, please proceed to the principal's office"...
Shit! What did I do now?. Emily thought to herself as she angrily grabbed her bag and stood up from the cafeteria table where she and her bestfriends, namely Hanna, Aria and Spencer, always sat on. Her circle of friends shot looks of confusion.
"What?" Emily asked
"What'd you do?" Hanna Marin, the fashionista and Queen Bee asked
"nothin" Emily raised her hands up and shrugged her shoulders, " anyway I'll see you after this, wait for me in the parking lot" she added.
"okay" the 3 girls answered in unison.
She stomped her way out of the cafeteria but felt someone gazing at her on her way out, Alison Dilaurentis, she looked back at her but she immediately bowed her head. She walked as fast as she could to get this over with.
"Ms. Fields its so nice of you to grace us with your presence without me having to call your mom over." Principal King sat behind her table looking furious. She knew she has pushed another limit with school rules but she's not sure which exactly.
"I love chatting and exchange pleasantries with you Mrs. King but may I know why I'm here? I dont recall doing something against school policies for the past few days, honestly that's a first. So why am I here?" Emily raised her brow and pouted her lips.
"As much as you are an asset to the swim team Emily, i believe the teachers have agreed not to give you a special treatment for this school year, as we have noticed how complacent you've become when it comes to your grades. You are failing on every subject. So we have come to a decision that you cannot compete until you get better grades. I can give you a list of possible tutors, if you want" Mrs King explained. Emily stood up from her seat.
"You can't do that, im the best swimmer you got, Rosewood Sharks have been unbeatable since i joined the team."
"Oh yes we can Ms. Fields the teachers have helped you with your grades for years, if you cant pass your SAT, you cant go to college and your talent would be of waste. We are doing the best we can to help you Emily. We know you are in a dark place since your parents divorce. But if you dont want to help yourself there is nothing we can do anymore."
Tears rolled out of her eyes, Emily took all the courage to excuse herself from Mrs. Kings office, something she hasnt done in a while is show emotions. She ran as fast as she could to the parking lot. She needs to get away from everyone, she doesnt want anyone to see her like this. She went to the shortcut near the library since rarely any student is there, when all of a sudden she bumped into someone.
"SHIT!!" Emily cursed under her breath, as she tried to stand.
"Ouch!".. she heard the other person say. She didnt want to stop but she saw the girl grabbing her ankles.
"Im sorry, are you alright?" Emily shot looks of concern as she tried to help the girl stand up. The girl's blonde hair is covering her face so Emily couldnt get a good look at her.
"Yeah, im fine, but my ankle hurts a bit" the girl answered as she tucked her loose hair behind her ear. Its Alison Dilaurentis. Emily felt her throat dry up. Alison used to be her childhood friend but everything changed when they were sophomore, Emily started doing crazy stints and Alison wasnt allowed to hang out with her anymore.
"Im sorry Ali, let me help you, its the least i can do" Alison was shocked to see who it was. Emily quietly wrapped her arms around Ali's waist as Ali slinged her arms around Em's neck. They walked slowly and silently to the school's clinic. When the nurse took Ali from her arms, Emily sneaked out of the room without saying goodbye or even glancing back. She walked to the parking lot where her friends are waiting.
