Mr. Dilaurentis arrived a little over 2 hours after Alison called, after the argument she had with Emily she had a lot of time to think of how they had broken apart. She thinks at least now there is a closure, they will never be on the same side again. At least Emily got what she wanted, leave everyone behind, people who had something to do with her life, she bets it was what she always wanted. They drove home in silence, but Mr. Dilaurentis noticed something was bothering Alison. They have always been very open to each other, she tells him everything that's happening in her life, good or bad, and he never judges her, he just listens and gives advice.
"Darling, are you okay?" He asked
"I talked to Emily today, after 2 years, she decided to talk to me."
"That's good. What did you talk about?" ..
"She offered to drive me home, and I asked her what happened to us. Things got pretty bad after that." ..
"What else did she say?"..
"Not much, i did a lot of talking, i might have offended her, so she drove off, I asked her why she stopped talking to me, she said she's not the same person she was back then, she's not part of my world, a lot of self pity but still the stubborn girl I know"
"I heard that Pam quit her job after the divorce, Ali, Emily is in a very difficult situation right now. All you can do is try to understand to see where she is coming from."
"Dad, when Em and I were "very close", did you have a problem with it? Did you think it was wrong?" ...
"Ali when you love someone, from your point of view, everything becomes right, but not everything is. I knew how much she meant to you, and likewise, but not everyone see it like that. Take for example your mom and Wayne, there are things we cant control in this life sweetie. That's what parents do, guide their children, you were very young back then to know what love is. All we did was protect both of you. Nobody knew that Wayne would leave his family because of that. No one in this town knew about you and Emily."
"Dad, is it wrong that I listened to mom that day? Would it have been different if Emily and I.."
"If you eloped? You were too young, both of you, it may be different but what if's will only be a part of the past now. We'll never know what would have happened because it never happened, do you understand me sweetie?"
"Yes dad."
"Ali, im proud of you, for doing what's right, but Im also sorry that you lost a friend in the process, you'll never know, someday Emily will go back to who she is, if you're older and wiser maybe you have a chance. I want you to be true to who you are, I will always want to see you happy, just take it easy, baby steps, never rush."
"Hope breeds eternal misery dad, but im still looking at it in a positive way, maybe. Someday. Thanks dad"
Ali went straight to her room when they arrived, she wanted to get Em out of her head so she opened her laptop to study, she checked her mail only to find a message from Principal King.
Good evening Ms. Dilaurentis,
I would like to know if you have a free time to accomodate a student to help with her studies, she is an asset to the school but is having difficulties with academic responsibilities. Please drop by my office tomorrow to discuss the details.
Principal I. M. KING
She already know who she meant, Emily. That's why she was running away earlier. Will she accept her as a tutor? Maybe she'll decline after everything that happened between them. But just like what her dad said, if you wont try, you'll never know. She sent back a message accepting the offer. She did all her homeworks and studied, but she cant seem to forget about Emily. Her mind is still filled with what ifs. She feel asleep thinking about Emily, and tomorrow she will wake up thinking about her again, just like what she's been doing for the past 7 years.
