When I was listening to the radio on Friday the 13th, I heard about bombings in Paris.
I dismissed it because I was with a friend, thinking nothing probably happened, it was just in the middle of nowhere anyway.
But later that night, I heard that it actually did happen. And I was devastated.
Across an ocean, I could hear the cries of the fallen, and their families and friends. The terror of a marvelous, beautiful city being thrown about by a group's ruthlessness.
As I read about what happened, the death toll crushed my heart. The people mourning in Paris must have been shocked and completely distraught because the beautiful people and city were attacked.
The Eiffel Tower was turned off, to symbolize the grief and terror reigned down by these attacks. It hadn't been shut off since 9/11, and that wasn't even their country, or city, or home.
I hope, in my heart, that all the victims are recognized and that all the people mourning can remember in the best way seems fit.
The victims of the bombings and shootings of Paris will be remembered across the world.
