The storm outside was nothing compared to the inner turmoil stirring within her. It was pouring, any form of life outside her house seemed nonexistent, blurred, and silenced. Contemplation took over her mind. Should she go plead her case, apologize, get on her knees and beg for forgiveness? Or should she just stay here, crying, feeling a void in her heart? Either, she assumed, would have no positive outcome. So she sat on the bed that used to hold a lovely blonde. A blonde that snored when she slept and had her curly hair in cute knots. A blonde that cradled her when nightmares jolted her into reality. A blonde who she loved more than anything God blessed her with in this world. She pulled her legs against her chest and buried her head in them. Tears staining her cheeks like paint stains a canvas. Her best friend was on the couch. Finally having enough of this pity party. She sighed.
"Yanelle you need to go talk to her." Yanelle looked at her best friend, a mixture of guilt and fear on her face.
"She hates me now. Completely and utterly hates me because of what I did. She won't listen to me. She won't." Her voice was breaking as she realized how true that could be. She broke Alex's heart. And what could fix that? Her best friend went over to her and unfolded her legs that were covering her face. She kneeled down on the edge of the bed.
"Listen. Yeah you did her wrong. But this is the first time. It's not like you break her heart on a daily basis. And Yanelle, Alex loves you. She loves you so fucking much and one little mistake can not change that. Believe me when I say Alex would forgive you at the drop of a hat. Yeah, you fucked up. Just go apologize for this little error and never be an idiot again." Yanelle looked at her best friend and realized she couldn't let something so special go to waste due to her cowardliness. And if Alex did truly love her that much she would forgive her. Yanelle promised to herself that she would never hurt her ever again, and that was something she was committed to.
"I'm going to talk to her." Her best friend smiled.
"Good." Yanelle gave her a hug.
"Thank you for being my friend, Alexus. Thank you so much."
"Not a problem. Now, go get your girl. And please be careful in the rain."
Yanelle rolled her eyes. "Okay, mom."

The rain was rough. The droplets needled the windows like warriors, trying to find their way into the vehicle. Yanelle ignored it. That was the most irrelevant thing ever. The love of her life was in pain due to her foolishness and that was something she needed to stop. She was going to kiss the pain away. She was going to heal Alex's open wounds with all of her love. Alex's house was in front of her, regardless of the blurred image she knew she was there. She knew she was in the presence of her true love. She got out of the car and got soaked. Their wasn't a dry spot anywhere on her. She didn't care. The shivering outside of her was nothing compared to the rapidly beating heart inside. She ran up to the door and banged as hard as she could. Alex's sister opened up the door with a cold expression on her face, but let Yanelle in any way.
"Where is she?" Yanelle said, breathlessly.
Alex's sister got into Yanelle's face, her sisterly instincts kicking in.
"You better promise me that you're going to make amends. She hasn't left her bed in days and it's all because of you."
"I promise."
"If you ever hurt her again, it'll be the end of you. Understand?"
"Yes, I understand."
"She's in her room. Don't fuck up again."
Yanelle ran as fast as she could and opened up the door. She looked around frantically, unable to find the damsel in distress. She then heard sobs in the bathroom. She opened the door to reveal Alex, her one and only, covered in blood with a knife in her hand. The crimson that surrounded Alex broke Yanelle's heart. Alex seemed fragile, weak, unable to go on. Yanelle collapsed to the floor and took the knife away from her. She grabbed Alex's face. Light brown and dark brown merged into a beautiful creation, the eye contact was filled with so many unsaid words. Words that could only have meaning to them two and no one else. Yanelle kissed Alex's forehead and held onto the bleeding arm, trying her best to stop the bleeding. She looked around for a gauge and managed to find it in the medicine cabinet. She wiped away all the blood and wrapped it around the punctured arm. Her eyes looked back up to Alex.
"Baby I'm so sorry. I love you so much and what I did was horrible but I'll never do it again. Don't cut please. Don't." Alex pushed her away.
"How can I forgive you? You cheated! Cheated!" Alex had tears dropping to the floor. Yanelle felt her chest tighten.
"Yes, I know. I did. But I didn't mean it! It just happened! I swear to God I didn't want it to happen but one thing led to another. You're the only one I love Alex. He meant nothing. I swear on all the stars in the sky. Baby, you're the only one I want." She took Alex's arm and kissed the wound. Yanelle then brushed the curly knotted beautiful mess out of Alex's face and rubbed her cheek. She leaned in and instantly everything around them disappeared. It was slow motion, it seemed, as her lips landed on Alex's. To feel those lips again meant everything to her. They were so soft and sweet she could kiss them all day.
"I love you and I'm sorry." Yanelle whispered.
"Really? Do you mean it?" Alex no longer had anger in her eyes. She had sadness, uncertainty. Yanelle smiled.
"Yes, I mean it baby. Forever and always." Alex blushed and nuzzled her head into the crook of Yanelle's neck.
"Never leave me. Never. Not for a guy, not for anyone." Yanelle kissed her once more.
"Promise." They went into the bedroom and Yanelle laid on the bed. She motioned for Alex to come over.
"C'mon, Alex. It's cuddle time." Alex giggled as she laid down on the bed.
"You're wet though." She joked, snuggling into the taller girls chest.
"You like me that way." Alex blushed and gently slapped Yanelle's arm.
Yanelle ran a hand through the magical mesh called Alexandra's hair and respired. This was heaven. Complete and utter heaven. Her other hand was intertwined with the blonde's. A perfect fit. Always a perfect fit. Alex was practically clinging on Yanelle as if she was the only thing she could ever hold.
"Do you think I'm beautiful? Because that's why I thought maybe you cheated. Because I'm not pretty enough for you." Yanelle kissed the shorter girls head.
"Alexandra Puckett, you are the most beautiful creature on this planet. Don't ever forget that."
She continued to sooth Alex, take away the pain. The blonde's hair practically becoming her hand's residency.
"A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather, I was praying that you and me might end up together. It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert, but I'm holding you closer than most, because you are my heaven." She sung and it was like a lullaby to Alex's ears. The smaller girl's eyes gradually closed and soon she was asleep. Yanelle smiled.
"Goodnight, my angel."

Yanelle woke up with a feeling of ease. The one she loved was in her arms at last and she would never put that at risk again. Alex was asleep, snoring softly next to her. She chuckled. How cute could one human being possibly be? She looked up and saw that Alexus and Alex's sister were standing at the door. Yanelle raised an eyebrow.
"What are you guys doing?"
"Admiring the sweetness of this view." Alexus stated.
"Oh and taking a picture for Instagram." Alex's sister intervened.
Yanelle rolled her eyes.
"Now shoo! My baby is sleeping and don't bother her." They both aww'd as Yanelle shoved them out of the room and closed the door. Yanelle got back under the covers and her girlfriend began to wake up, with a lazy smile on her face.
"It's good to wake up to that face again." Yanelle smiled, giving Alex a gentle kiss.
"It's good waking up to your kisses again." She rubbed her thumb on Yanelle's cheek.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Alexandra Puckett. And when it rains and you are not able to stand it, I'll be there with an umbrella." Alex giggled.
"Thank you, my personal umbrella holder."
