My name is Sierra Cathleen White. I was born on July 17th 1996. I’ve always been the quite girl that goes unnoticed by everyone. I’m not one for seeking attention so it’s totally fine with me. Sure, being popular, pretty and liked by everyone would be nice, but I’m fine with being the quiet girl.
I only have a few friends; Mariah, my best friend since kindergarten, Lisa, a very close friend since grade 5, and Seth, my neighbour who just happens to be a boy. Clearly only having a few friends would classify me as socially awkward- which I am. I’m horrible around boys, besides Seth I’ve known him for practically my whole life; our parents kind of forced us to be friends and hangout lots. But I’m totally okay with that! He’s such a fun person to hang out with; he’s trustworthy, funny, athletic and handsome. No, I don’t like Seth; he’s too much like a brother to me. I do have my eye on one boy though- Noah Reeds- he’s the most popular boy at Glendale High. Yes, I am socially awkward and I like boys; I’m hormone crazed just like every other 17 year old girl. He would never go for a girl like me though; a stick in the mud. Heck, I don’t even think he knows I exist, despite the fact that we’ve been in the same classes for 6 years…
Today is a Friday, praise the Lord! Yes, I enjoy school but like every other student the weekend is always the best time of the week. Tonight is the night of the supposed biggest party of the school year, everyone at school will be going. Okay, so I’m socially awkward but that doesn’t mean that every once in a while I like to have a good time and just dance with some friends! I don’t drink or do drugs like some 17 year olds, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time.
Mariah and Lisa are coming over so we can get ready for the party. After about 2 hours and a couple boxes of pizza later, we’re ready. Mariah’s tall 5’9 thin body is covered in a maroon dress that reaches her knees, her long brown hair cascades down her back in loose curls. I’ve always been envious of her looks, she’s beautiful. Lisa’s petite 5’1 frame is in a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and a flowing galaxy t-shirt. She looks flawless with her short edgy black hair straightened. Me on the other hand, I look normal-good, not gorgeous like my two other best friends, but okay. My 5’6 frame is covered with a tight red dress that reaches above my knee, my hip length hair is straight with a matching bow clipped in keeping my bangs back.
After a quick 5 minute drive we pull up to a house- a mansion would be an understatement. This house is literally twice the size of my home! This gigantic mansion is well kept, a large courtyard with a fountain in front of the door. There are a bunch of teenagers running around the front yard with red plastic cups in hand; obviously alcohol. Mariah, Lisa, Seth who met us there, and I all head in the front door. We’re greeted by loud speakers blaring one of my favourite songs- I Love It by Icona Pop- there were so many kids in here! Despite the size of the mansion, it was filled! The four of us make our way to the dance floor so we can have a good time and dance the night away.
At around 11pm and three hours of dancing, I make my way to the kitchen to look for some water. After finding and un-opened bottle of water I turn around to head back to the dance floor to dance some more and find myself slamming right into what seems like a rock.
