I awoke to light streaming through my window.
"Rise and shine, little sister!" I heard a cheery voice say. I rolled over, stuffing my head under my pillow. "Mmphhff." I heard a sigh.
"Alright, you made me. HOGWARTS." I shot up. Koda doubled over laughing. I rolled my eyes, attempting a straight face and failing. I swung my feet out of bed, stumbling into the kitchen. I slumped into a chair, helping myself to pancakes. Koda was such a morning person. Not me.
I washed my plate and headed to my room, throwing on jeans, a tee-shirt and trainers. I grabbed my satchel for books, ect, throwing my letter inside for reference. As I plopped myself down in the armchair to wait for Seth to arrive, mum shuffled out of her room, wearing a worn bathrobe and scuffed slippers.
"Mornin'" she yawned. I smiled at her, as she pressed a couple buttons on the coffee machine. A loud knock came from the door, and Koda rushed to open it.
Seth strode in behind him, grinning. I blushed. Seth had been Koda's best friends since primary school, and I had always had a bit of a crush on him.
"Hey everyone!" he greeted cheerfully. Mum nodded, still half asleep. I couldn't blame her. It was barely 7:30. I stood up, slinging my back over my shoulder.
"Bye mum," I said, hugging her. She gently squeezed. "Have fun, baby girl."
"Yes ma'am."
Koda grabbed a pancake, and I followed him down the stairs and out of the doors of our appartment building. The sun was shining in typical summer fashion, but the cool breeze kept it from getting too hot. We walked for a couple blocks, Seth asking me how my summer went. It had been pretty uneventful, until now.
"Are your parents wizards?" I asked, curious. He laughed.
"Yeah. They went to Hogwarts together back in the day."
I nodded.
We soon stopped at a bus stop, and caught the next bus to a popular shopping plaza. We got out, and I looked around. It was the same as last time I was here. Same coffee shops, same fast food, same clothing stores, nothing had changed. I nudged Koda.
"We get books HERE?" I asked incredulously. He laughed.
"No, silly. Over here." He grabbed my hand and pulled me over to a tiny, grubby pub, tucked between two huge stores. A pub. Need I remind you, I was only 11, while they where 14, not nearly old enough to drink. "Ummm..." I began, but Seth shushed me. "It's the only way in," he explained.
The pub was dark and dusty. Koda led us to a tiny courtyard, where he pulled out his wand, tapping several bricks on the wall in front of him. Suddenly, it began to shift and change, morphing into an arched door.
"Woah." I breathed, as I looked at what lay before me. A winding street, lined with various shops and stores stretched endlessly ahead of us.
"Welcome to Diagon Alley," Koda said, stepping through the doorway.
"No way," I was in shock as I followed Seth and my brother down the cobblestone road. There were shops for everything, cauldrons, books, poion supplies, everything. Koda made his way to a giant white building.
