She took her phone from her pocket, causing the key chains to jingle, and plopped down on her comfy maroon chair.
Once she was comfortably sprawled lengthwise, she typed in her four digit password and opened the message app and made a new text.
She thought about what numbers called to her and typed in (321) 588-7340. Then she started writing her text.
"Hello, friend! :3 Nice to meet you! I'm E, well that's all I'll introduce myself as right now... Maybe more later. You probably don't know me, and I probably don't know you, but I want to talk to you! Now you don't have to listen to me or respond, you could even block me or report me to the cops, I don't know. Or, we could start talking and become friends...your choice :) I won't ask about your personal information, so you can feel comfortable with me. I'm just here for a good conversation and maybe a good, texting friendship. So I'll start:
How has your day been going, friend?"

DeliveredShe sighed contently and pressed the home button to check her mail. Nothing personal. Again. Only automatic emails from stores like Hot Topic and Macy's.
It seemed a bit quiet in her room, but instead of putting on some music, she enjoyed the peace and slight pressure from the blanket of silence. It was a good break from the bustle of her life. She closed her eyes, relishing the moment.
Her phone buzzed in her hand.
"Hello E :3 I'm doing pretty well today, bit stressed, but when aren't I? How about you?"
She smiled at her phone, enjoying that this person actually responded, unlike the last couple numbers.
"Well, all I've done today is eat a good breakfast and watch youtubs, so I'm feeling great!"
Sent"What's stressful? I know some relaxing techniques ^ - ^"

Read"To be honest, I've gotten behind in my work, so recently, it's been kind of a mad rush to getting things finished so people are satisfied."
"Ahh yes...I know that feeling all too well, my friend."
Sent"Do you have any sticky notes? Like the yellow post-its? And a pen."
Sent"Ye, lemme go get some. One sec"
...
"K, back. How will these help?"
"Well, you write one task per sticky, then you order them by the importance and how quick they should be finished. Then you look at it and take it one step at a time."
Sent"Take a deep breath and finish the first one. Then u can scribble out the words, crumple the sticky, and throw it away. Doing the last bits really help motivate you to finish the others so you can crumple them too."
Sent"I don't know why, but people like destroying things, so it's mentally relaxing and calming. At any rate, it helps get the job done."
Sent"Ohh I see...ok, I just finished labeling. I'll set to work men"
Men?
"*then. Shirty autocorrect."
"AHH YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!! >:( "
"Lol! Good luck, friend. Take it one thing at a time. Talk to you some other time once things have calmed down!"
Sent"Sure thing, E :D "
"By the way, call me C"
"Bye C :3 "
SentShe looked up from her phone, glad to have helped her new "pen" pal. She glanced at the wall, littered with her own sticky notes full of scribbles, dark circles, and exclamation marks.
She sighed yet again and closed her eyes, not wanting to do the work. Instead, she just enjoyed the peace she had at the moment: the calm island in the hurricane.
And then without meaning to, she fell asleep. Work would have to wait until later.
