Dylan's POV
When I agreed to tutor a failing student, I didn't expect the tutoring to be done at my place, and I didn't expect Elaina. I'm sure she's a nice enough girl, but I didn't want anyone to meet my family, especially not the girl who nearly took my head off for just being late.
People forget things, alright.
I just hope Colby isn't home. I would ask my mom, but she is a bit preoccupied welcoming Elaina in to our household.
"Dylan" I snap back into reality to find my mom staring at me. Oh crap, she must have said something to me. I just smile sheepishly, telling her that I missed what she said. She just rolled her eyes. "I said, she's very pretty, isn't she?"
"I didn't really look, Mom, I'm just tutoring her." I say with a shrug. That was a lie. I'm a teenage boy, of course I looked. Honestly, she is so pretty, I'm surprised I had never noticed her before. Surely I've had at least one class with her before.
I won't make a move on her though because like I told my mother, I'm tutoring her. She wants a new grade not a new boyfriend. Besides, I didn't miss how panicked she got when I suggested tutoring at her place. Or how she jumped when my mom shouted out.
Something happened to her, but I'm just here to tutor her, not get her life story.
I turned around when I heard the soft thud of Elaina's converses on the carpeted floor. "It was very nice to meet you Mrs. Matthews, but we are already late so," she turned towards me, "Do you mind if we start?"
"Um, sure follow me." I was confused as to why she was being so polite, but I guess the whole "we are already late" was a shot at me.
Before we made it to my bedroom, my 14-year old brother came hurtling towards us.
"DYLAN!" Colby threw himself at me. When he finally released my from his death grip, he noticed Elaina. He started smiling like a kid on Christmas as he bounced in front of her and stuck his hand out, causing her to flinch once again. "Hi, I'm Colby, what's your name?"
She barely got out "Elaina" before he started talking again. "Cool name, I have a friend named Elaina, except she goes by Lainey, did you know Elaina means torch or bright light?"
Elaina looked overwhelmed by all of the information that Colby had blurted out of the top of his head. "No and...Thanks?"
Colby nodded to show that he was satisfied by her answer and walked back into his room.
She stared after him for a few seconds with a very confused look in her face, but then seemed to shake out of her daze as she turned towards me.
"Anyways, where were headed?" Oh, right. Tutoring. I had been so distracted by Colby that I had completely forgotten...again. I'm just glad that he was in a good mood again. He had been downright depressed these past to weeks.
"Right this way."
Hey, I know I mentioned this in my other chapters, but please, please, please comment. That would be amazing.
Thanks
