I walked outside to see Madison sprawled out in the grass and the boys started piling on top of him. I laughed at the sight as I approached them with James in my arms. I looked over to see my mom sitting in her chair watching the kids run off and play and Henry came out of the pool to chase after them. I smiled seeing how attentive and loving he was with them. I placed James in his car seat next to his Nana before I sat down.
"Kai," Madison called for me. I turned my head and saw he was still on the ground. He waved me over. I walked toward him and he held his hand out. I grabbed for it and tried pulling him up but he pulled me down. "How you doin?" he asked in that New York accent that I love so much making me giggle. "You know it's been three days since the party and we still haven't talked." I looked at him with furrowed eyebrows.
"Talk about what?" I asked.
"When you said no and I said yes after Randy asked if we were planning for more kids. You said afterward that we had somethings to talk about and we haven't talked about it since." then it hit me.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about it." I told him. "What do you want to talk about?"
"I guess I should just jump right in and ask do you even want to have more kids with me?" he asked. I felt my heart break a little when I saw the hurt in his eyes. I had no idea when I said no that I hurt him. I thought we were on a break and we were happy with the three little buggers we already have.
"I want you to know that you're an incredible father and I want more kids. I definitely want more kids with you but not right now. I just returned to in ring competition and if I got pregnant then my dad and everyone in WWE Creative would have to put my story-lines on hold or replace me for another year and honestly I have been itching to get back in the ring and I know you're wanting to go back on the road so just know this isn't No this is just not right now. Maybe in a few years when we've done more for our careers we could talk about having more little ones but at this moment let's just take time to enjoy the ones we already have and take time to enjoy what we have in life in general, okay?" I asked him. He didn't reply. "Madison, please tell me you understand? It's not like I'm saying I never want to have any more children with you I just think we should go back to work and focus on that for now then after sometime we can revisit this topic." I looked at him. He had been staring at the grass then my hand. His hand moved and rested on top of mine then he gently grasped onto my fingers rubbing his thumb over my knuckles.
"I understand." He replied looking into my eyes. "You know the reason I said yes is because I've been thinking of how lucky I am to have you and the boys in my life and how much luckier I would be if we had another little one, preferably a girl." He said smiling as he finished.
"A girl," I asked smiling too. He nodded.
"Yeah, I even have a name in mind."
"What name?" I asked.
"Well two, Lacey and Grace." I smiled wide.
"I love those names. And to be honest I've been wanting a girl since I was a teenager, I've always wanted a girl, don't get me wrong I love my boys but I've always wanted a girl. To put her in cute little dresses, put bows in her hair. Dress her in anything and everything pink and red. Tutu's everywhere."
"I always pictured myself with a son. Teaching him how to throw a ball, how to kick a ball, teaching him about girls and cars." I laughed picturing my husband teaching our sons about girls. He barely knows everything about me how is he supposed to teach them about other girls? "What's so funny?" he asked.
"I just envisioned you telling the boys about girls." I struggled to tell him clearly because I was laughing kinda hard.
"I don't get it. Why are you laughing at that?"
"Because you barely know me entirely how are you supposed to tell them about other girls?"
"We've been married for 4 years I know you." He stated confidently.
"Oh really," I questioned raising my eyebrow.
"Yes." He replied. Just as I was going to ask him a question I heard Hunter cry out. I jumped on my feet and rushed over to see Henry bent over Hunter checking on him.
"What happened?" I got down on my knees and started checking Hunter over. "What hurts baby?" I asked him. He wiped away tears and showed me his knee. It was scrapped up. "Anything else hurt?" by this time Madison and my mom were standing beside my brother and I. Hunter shook his head. "Do you know what happened, Henry?"
"We were playing Tag and Duncan was it. He started chasing after us but because Hunter was closer and doesn't run as fast he ran after him and Hunter tripped over his foot and fell."
"It's okay," I said to Hunter as I picked him up. "We'll put a superhero band-aid on that and you'll be good as new." I pecked his cheek and before I pulled away I blew a raspberry making him giggle.
*Later that night*
I placed the last pot on the towel along with everything else I had just washed and Madison came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist before he planted a kiss on my cheek. "Hey." He spoke.
"Hey you," I said back.
"Let's go outside." Madison suggested. "We're going outside!" he shouted to my mom.
"Okay!" she replied.
"I can't I have to put the boys to sleep."
"I already took care of that."
"How did you manage that? They only fall asleep if I sing to them."
"That's when you're home. Remember I'm with them when you're on the road so I have my ways." He admitted.
"You either read to them or sang them the same song." I said. "No wait, recording?" I asked.
"That's not fair." I laughed.
"What? That I know you so well?" he nodded.
"Yes. Sometimes I think you know me better than I know myself, or you." He said. "Now if you're done knowing me so well let's go outside." He held my hand and pulled me outside.
"What's so special outside?" I asked noticing he hasn't stopped trying to get me outside.
"The stars and you," He said as he turned to face me holding my hands in his.
"I don't think you know just how much I love you." I said.
"I know how much I love you." He replied. "Come sit." He guided me toward the picnic blanket that was lying on the ground.
"I don't remember the last time we did this." I said sitting down.
"Did what?" Madison asked.
"This, lay in the grass and stare at the night sky."
"It's definitely been awhile. I think the last time we did this was when you were 7 months pregnant with James."
"That was like 8 months ago." I replied in disbelief. We laid on the blanket just staring at the beautiful night sky. "Actually the last time we did this was on my birthday after midnight. Remember we even slept out here." I reminded him.
"Oh yeah, that was probably my favorite night. No job, no distractions, no party just us and the stars," He replied pulling me closer then planting a kiss on my forehead.
"So..." I trailed off.
"So..." Madison mimicked me.
"You know what we're missing right now?" I asked him.
"Music," He stated pulling his phone out and started scrolling through it for a while then finally the song started to play. "How's this?"
I laid there listening as Beautiful Soul by Jesse McCartney began to play. "Perfect." I smiled to him. "This nice," I said.
"I wish we could do this every night."
"Me too," I snuggled closer to him. "Madison."
"Yeah." He answered.
"Do something for me."
"Anything," he said looking down at me.
"Promise me we won't sleep out here again." I looked up at him. "Because the last time we slept outside my back and hips hurt for days and I couldn't walk right." We both laughed at my reply.
"Sure." Madison replied still chuckling.
"My back, hips and job thank you." I said.
"What about you?" he asked raising his eyebrow and a smirk on his face to match.
"I'm about to show you my appreciation." I replied sitting up. I swung my leg over and straddled him. I leaned down and kissed him. He smiled in the kiss and started to tug at my shirt. "Don't get too excited remember we're outside." he laughed a bit before kissing me one last time.
