My alarm clock beeped on my bedside table. I groaned and opened my eyes to the semi-dark room. The digital clock read 7.42. "Crap," I mumbled, throwing the duvet covers off.

I stumbled to my closet and pulled out a pair of blue denim jeans and a grey t-shirt. I pulled on some socks and my navy Converse, yanked on a hoodie and grabbed my school bag off the desk before running downstairs.

I headed to the kitchen where my mum and little sister Sadie were having breakfast. "Morning, Ash!" Mum said. "You're finally up I see!"

I snatched a piece of toast from a plate on the bar and took a bite. "I have to go, I'm late," I said. "Well give your old mum a kiss first!" Cried my mother. I rolled my eyes then gave her a kiss on the cheek. "See you," I said.

I ruffled Sadie's hair then headed into the hall. I spotted a hairbrush on the table under the mirror and dragged it through my short brown hair. My green eyes stared back at me from the mirror for a moment, then I headed out the door.

I had just entered the school gates when I heard the electronic bell signify that I was late. I groaned then ran inside, stopping at my locker to grab my chemistry book before heading to class.

"I will be expecting a two page essay on this by Thursday," called Mr Rush over the noise of people packing up. His statement was replied to with a series of groans, including me. English is my worst subject, but at least that meant school was over.

I loitered for a minute, pretending to zip up my bag while waiting for my friends. Ella, Dean and Kate finally caught up with me, complaining about the essay. Will was with them. My boyfriend Will. I couldn't resist smiling whenever he was near.

"Lets go to mine today?" Kate stated. The rest of us murmured words of agreement, and we headed off to our cars in the parking lot, cursing Mr Rush as we went.

I interlocked my fingers with Wills', and he turned to smile at me, his blue eyes shining. "Want to come in my car?" he offered. I nodded my head gratefully. I don't have my own car yet, though I have my licence.

Almost everyday after school, Will, Dean, Ella, Kate and I went to each others houses to study and do homework. Yesterday it was Wills' house. Today Kates'. Sometimes we just go to a small cafe near the school, but one rarely anyone goes to.

We haven't been to my house in a long time. I keep making excuses, and my friends are gracious enough not to question me. I'm glad for that. I'm not ready to introduce Will to my parents yet, and he's okay with that.

Ella and I take a lift with Will in his nice car, while the others go with Kate. I sit shotgun next to Will. As the music from the radio blares, the sun streams through the windscreen, and just before he pulls out, I lean over and kiss Will, his soft lips on mine, my hands in his hair, and for a moment, everything is good.
