Chapter Two: The Past

Fifteen years ago. Gale's age: 7

"Gale, honey! Its time for your first day of first grade!" The woman yells from across the bedroom. "Mommy, I know! I'm ready." The child smiles.

The mom smiles back and grabs the boy's hand and kisses his forehead. Gale jumps as a loud crash and a gunshot is heard downstairs. He whimpers, "Mommy..?"

(A/N Lucy is Gales mom.)

Lucy hushes the boy and rushes him into a closet. "Gale, listen to me. Be really quiet and don't come out until you heat the police. Ok?" Gale nods, terrified. "Mommy loves you. So, so much. Don't forget that." Tears run down Gale and Lucy's faces. Lucy smiles a sad smile and kisses Gale's forehead. The closet door is closed and the footsteps get faint.

Only minutes later a gunshot and screaming is echoing throughout the house. Gale; despite his mother's words, bursts out of the closet and screams, "Mommy!!"

Lucy

I rush down the stairs, leaving my baby boy behind, stopping when I see to big men at the bottom of the staircase. The Galindo Mafia. I look down and scream, "Jacob! No!!" My husband lays on the ground, bullet wound on his head. The guys turn around and smirk at me. One guy asks a question I wish they never would have asked.

"Where's the boy?"
